MAYOR NEWMAN REPORTED THERE HAS BEEN 16 EARLY VO TO DATE

MCKENZIE RECEIVED THE "OUTSTANDING MUNTCIPAL CLERK OF THE YF'AR" AWARD FOR
1995.
MAYOR NEWMAN ANNOUNCED THAT EAGZE SCOUT KENNY TERRELL WHO IS WORKING ON
HIS EAGLE SCOUT BADGE, PREPARED A DETAILED PLAN TO CLEAN THE UNDERBRUSH ON
SHADWELL. LAST SATURDAY, OVER 50 PEOPLE SHOWED UP TO HELP WITH THIS
PROJECT WITH EAGLE SCOUT TERI2ELL SUPERVISING.
MAYOR NEWMAN ANNOUNCED THAT FISD STUDENTS ARE TRAVELLING 7'0 AUSTIN THIS
WEEK TO PRESENT HAMLET IN THE ONE ACT PLAY COMPETITION.
COUNCILM�MBER HAJECATE ANNOUNCED THAT SHE HAS BEEN IN FLORIDA ATTENDING
THE NATIONAL RTSK MANAGEMENT WORKSHOP WITH REPRESENTATIVES FROM TWENTY FIVE
CITIES REPRESENTED AND CONGRATULATED THE CITY SECRETARY DELORIS MCKENZIE
ON RECEIVING THE OUTSTANDING MUNICIPAL CLERK AWARD.
COUNCILMEMBER MEASELES REPORTED ON RECEIVING AN INVOICE FOR THE
DICKINSON BAYOU WATERSHED PROJECT W]_TH GALVESTON COUNTY TO PAY 30 PERCENT
AND THE OTHER 70 PERCENT TO B�? PAID FOR BY THE 9 ENTITIES THAT ARE
PARTICIPATING IN THIS PROJECT. COUNCILMEMBER MEASELES ANNOUNCED THE
BICYCLE ADVISORY COMMITTEE MET LAST WEEK AND THE NEW CHAIR IS SHERRY
WARMINSKI. COUNCILMEMBER MEASELES ANNOUNCED THERE WILL BE A "CENTURY
RIDE" ON JULY 1 AND REPORTED THE 7'ICKET TO RIDE PROGRAM WITH THE POLICE

PRESENTED A STATUS REPORT ON THE LIBRAI2Y OPERATIONS, REPORTING THERE ARE
OVER 18,000 PATRONS WHICH REPRESENTS A 15 PERCENT INCREASE IN USERS,
REPORTED CIRCULATION IS UP 11 PERCENT, JUVENILE USE IS UP 23 PERCENT, AUDIO
VIDEO UP 98 PERCENT, VIDEO UP 23 PERCENT AND REFERENCE USE IS UP 52 PERCENT
WITH CURRENT COLLECTIONS OVER 84,000. MR. GILBREATH REPORTED THE LIBRARY

VOLUNTEERS TO THE CITY. ,
CITY MANAGER CO}� REPORTED ON THE TOWER ESTATES WATER WELL, TNP POWER LINE
AT ELEVATED STORIIGE TANK, BOND ISSUE PRIORITY LIST, PROGRESS OF THE NEW CITY
HALL, AND FEMA REIMBURSEMENT TO THE C:ITY OF ONLY $9,045 FOR EXPENSES
INCURRED DURING THE DISASTER IN OCTOBER. CITY MANAGER REPORTED THE COLOR
SANTPLES FOR THE WATER TOWER ARE IN AND ARE BEING REVIEWED BY STAFF, REPORTED
THE CITY HAS RE(:EIVED A FAVORABLE REPORT ON THE SURVEY OF THE WATER SYSTEM
