MAYOR NEWMAN CALLED A DQCKETED pSjBLIC HEARING TO ORDER TO RECEIVE PUBLIC INPUT , EITHER ORAL OR WRITTEN , REGARDING PROPOSED BASIC CABLE TELEVISTON RATES FOR TCI CABLEVISION . MR . FRANK WEBB STATED HE IS NOT IN FAVOR OF INCREASED RATES . MR . HOWARD YEAGER OBJECTED TO IN-HOME ADVERTISING , EXTENDED BASIC CHANNELS AND CHARGES FOR ADDITIONAL OUTLETS . MS . JILL MACK WITH T . C . I . CABLE , STATED F . C . C . REGULATES BASSC CHANNELS AND THERE IS NO CHARGE FOR ADDITIONAL OUTLETS . HEARING NO FURTHER INPUT, THE PUBLIC HEARING WAS CLOSED AT 7 : 10 PM . 5" 506 MAYOR NEWMAN REPORTED ON ATTENDING THE TEXAS MUNICIPAL LEAGUE - A . M . C . C . MEETING IN AMARILLO WITH GUEST SPEAKER JOHN SHARP WHO SPOKE ON A NEW CREDIT CARD FOR FOOD STAMYS WHICH WILL ELIMINATE THE MAJORITY OF FRAUDULENT USE OF FOOD STAMPS AND WILL DECREASE THE FUNDS NEEDED FOR PRINTTNG AND DELIVERY OF FOOA STAMPS . COUNCILMEMBER HAJECATE COMPLIMENTED COUNCILMEMBER LOWE FOR HER PRESENTATION ON TEEN COURT AT THE TML/AMCC MEETING , AND REPORTED ON ATTENDING A VERY INFORMATIVE SESSION ON NAFTA - FREE TRADE AGREEMENT AND THE EFFECT ON CITIES AT THE TML/AMCC MEETING . COUNCILMEMBER MANISON STATED HE WAS VERY PROUD OF COUNCILMEMBER LOWE FOR HER PRESENTATION ON TEEN COURT AND STATED HE HAD HEARD GOOD COMMENTS REGARDING THIS SESSION AT THE TML/AMCC MEETTNG AND REPORTED ON ATTENDING A SESSION BY TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE ON ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ON NEW YDEAS FOR GITIES . COUNCILMEMBER MEASELES STATED HE HAD HEARD MANY GOOD COMMENTS REGARDING THE PRESENTATION BY COUNCILMEMBER LOWE AT THE TML/AMCC AND REPORTED HE ENJOYED SHARING INFORMATION WITH OTHER ELECTED OFFICIALS DURING THE TML/AMCC SESSIONS . COUNCILMEMBER STUART REPORTED ON TML/AMCC SPEAKER JOHN SHARP STATING THE FORTUNE 500 COMPANIES LOOKING AT EMPLOYMENT TRENDS FOR THE NEXT FIFTEEN YEARS AND THAT TH�Y ARE LOOKING AT TEXAS FOA NEW EMPLOYEES FIRST AND THEN OKLAHOMA , REPORTED ON ATTENDING A FINANCIAL FORECASTING SEMINAA WHERE KEEPING UP INFRASTRUCTURE WAS STRESSEA , ATTENDED A MEETING ON LAW ENFORCEMENT , HEALTH CARE FINANCING AND REFORM AND GUEST SPEAKER KAY BAILEY HUTCHISON SPOKE ON HER DEDICATION TO UNFUNDED MANDATES , OSHAIFAIR LABOR ACT AND EPA . COUNCILMEMBER STUART ANNOUNCED THERE WILL BE A COMPOSTING SEMINAR ON TUESDAY HELD BY SHARON ROOS AND THERE IS NO CHARGE FOR THE SEMINAR , REPORTED ON ATTENDING C . C .D .D . MEETING LAST WEEK , ATTENDED G . C . M. & C . MEETING LAST WEEK WITH DISCUSSION REGARDING THE PROPOSED CAD BUILDING AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AND ELECTION OF OFFICERS WAS HELD WITH PETE RYGAARD FROM LA MARQUE A5 PRESIDENT , HARRY ROBINSON FROM SANTA FE AS VICE-PRESIDENT AND ED STUART FROM FRIENDSWOOD AS SECRETARY-TREASURER . COUNCILMEMBER DICKEY REPORTED SHE HAS SPOKEN TO PLANNER DAVID HOOVER REGARDING THE CSC DISTRICT AND THE IMPACT ON FM 518 AND FM 528 , ANNOUNCED THE COMPREHENSIVE PLAN IS TO BE PRESENTED BY J . T . DUNCAN AT A SPECIAL P & 2 MEETING , AND STATED THE TML/AMCC MEETING WAS VERY INFORMATIVE , REPORTED ON ATTENDING A LEGAL QIIESTION AND ANSWER SESSION AND ASKED ABOUT THE ADA REQUIREMENTS FOR CITIES , STATED KAY BAILEY HUTCHISON SPEECH WAS EXCELLENT , THE SEMINARS TO CHOOSE FROM WERE EXCELLENT AND SPOKE ON THE BENEFITS OF EXCHANGING INFORMATION WITH OTHER MAYORS AND COUNCILMEMBERS FROM AROUND THE STATE .
