COUNCIL CONVEI3ED INTO A WORK SES,�ION FOR DISCUSSION REGARDING DESIGN OF NEW CITY HALL WITH HIDELL ARCHITECTS REPRESENTATIVES BILL HIDELL AND ED KEPNER . COUNCIL REVIEWED DRAWINGS OF PROPOSED ELEVATIONS , PARKING AREAS , GREEN SPACES , 5ECOND FLOOR OFFICE SPACES , EXTERIOR MATERIALS , GRQUND FLOOR OFFICE SPACES , MEETING AREA , ROOF MATERIAL , CENTENNIAL CLOCK , DISCUSSED BUDGET AMOUNT , SQUARE FOOTAGE AT 22 , 200 INSTEAD OF 20 , 000 PROJECTED , COST OF LIMESTONE , EXTERIOR LIGHTING , SAME TREATMENT IN INTERIOR FLOORING FOR OFFICES , COUNCIL CHAMBERS WITH PUBLIC AREA BEING SLATE , RECESSED ENTRY FOR REST ROOM FACILITIES , EEP HALLWAY CLEAR AND • ATTRACTIVE , METAL HANDRAIL ON STASRCASE AND DISCUSSED IF CUTS HAVE TO BE MADE , CUT FURNISHINGS AND POSSIBLY NOT FINISH SOME OFFICE AREAS . ED KEPNER ADVISED THE NEXT STEP WILL BE TO ADDRESS TH� DESIGN DEVELOPMENT FOR FACADES , BUILDING MATERIALS , MECHANICAL/STRUCTURAL SYSTEM AND LIGHTING . COUNCIL CONCURRED WITH THE PRELIMINARY PLANS AND REQUESTED HIDELL TO PROCEED WITH PLANS FOR THE BID PACKAGE WHICH SHOULD BE READY IN APPROXIMATELY SIX WEEKS WITH BIDS IN BX THE MIDDLE OF APRIL . MAYOR NEWMAN REPORTED COUNCIL TOURED THE WEST PROPERTIES FOR A SPORTS COMPLEX ON HORSEBACK , REPORTED ON ATTENDING THE PRAYER BREAKFAST HONORING FRIENDSWOOD ATHLETES, REPORTED ON W4RKING WITH THE HOMEOWNERS REGARDING THE BUILDING ON SUNSET AND STATED STAFF HAS BEEN INSTRUCTED TO PROVIDE FOR AMENDMENT OF THE SUBDIVISION ORDINANCE REGULATING ACCESSORY BUILDINGS . COUNCILMEMBER HAJECATE REPORTED ON THE TOUR OF THE WEST PROPERTIES AND STATED THIS TOUR WAS VERY SNFORMATIVE , ATTENDED THE PRAYER BREAKFAST WHICH WAS VERY MOVING AND REPORTED WORK ON THE PROPOSED NEW CITY HALL IS PROCEEDING QUICKLY . COUNCILMEMBER MEASELES REPORTED ON THE TOUR OF THE WEST PROPERTIES AND STATED THIS TOUR PROVIDED A GOOD PREVIEW OF THE PROPERTY BEING CONSIDERED FOR THE SPORTS COMFLEX AND REPORTED ON MEETING LAST THURSDAY WITH RON CROWDER AND CITY MANAGER REGARDING A CEMETERY AND FUNERAL HOME. COUNCILMEMBER MANISON REPORTED ON ATTENDING THE H . G . A . C . BUSINESS MEETING , ATTENDED THE GALVESTON COUNTY PARKS BOARD MEETING , ATTENDED THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE MEETING AT H . G . A . C . , COMPLIMENTED THE MAYOR ON THE STATE OF THE CITY ADDRESS AT THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE MEETING , ATTENDED THE GRAND OPENING OF GILES PAINT AND B�DY SHOP AND STATED THIS IS A BEAUTIFUL FACILITY AND HAS MANY ENVIRONMENTAL CQNTROL FEATURES AND REPORTED HE DID NOT TAKE THE TOUR OF THE WEST PAOPERTIES AS HIS DOCTOR WOULD NOT ALLOW HIM TO RIDE HORSEBACK. COUNCILMEMBER STUART REMINDED COUNCIL OF THE G . C . M . & C . MEETING TO BE HELD ON WEDNESDAY IN TEXAS CITY , ATTENDED THE CLEAR CREEK WATER SHED COMMITTEE MEETING ON JANUARY 12 , ATTENDED THE C , C . D . D . MEETING AND REPORTED THE SUPERVISORS ARE VERY INTERESTED IN COOPERATING WITH THE CITY TO PREVENT FLOODING , ATTENDED THE H . C . M. & G . MEETING LAST WEEK ANA TOURED THE WEST PROPERTIES WITH GOUNCIL AND STATED THIS GAVE COUNCIL A FIRST HAND VIEW . COUNCILMEMHER RALEY REPORTED ON ATTENDING THE COUNSELING CENTER ADVISORY BOARD MEETING LAST WEEK TO REVIEW THE DRAFT RFP TO PRQVIDE COUNSELING SERVICES FOR THE CITY AND REPORTED THE TRAILRIDE OF THE WEST PROPERTIES WAS VERY INFORMATIVE AND QUITE AN EXPERIENCE . COUNCILMEMBER LOWE REPORTED ON THE TOUR OF THE WEST PROPERTIES AND STATED IT PROVIDED COUNCIL THE OPORTUNITY TO VIEW THE PROPERTY AND DSFF�RENT PROSPECTIVES . COUNCILMEMBER LOWE STATED THE TOUR WAS NOT AT CITY EXPENSE AND STATED THE HORSES WERE DONATED , REPORTED ON ATTENDING THE H. G .M & C AND THE C . C . D . ALAN AND BECKY TAYLOR ALONG WITH THEIR DAUGHTER APPEARED BEFORE COUNCIL TO PUBLICLY THANK THE CITY FOR ACTING SO QUICKLY FOR A "STAY OF EXECUTION" FOR SOME NEW PUPPIES THAT WERE RESCUED BY THE TAYLORS . CITY MANAGER RON COX PRESENTED THE FIVE STAR SPIRIT AWARD TO CINDY EDGE , UTILITY BILLING/ACCOUNTING SERVICES SUPERVISOR . CITY MANAGER REPORTED ON CONCRETE WORK AT CITY HALL TO COMPLY WITH ADA REQUIREMENTS , TCI CABLE COALITION , SOUTHWESTERN BELL TELEPHONE FRA�CHISE , STATUS OF ENTRYWAY SIGNS , TESTING OF CLEAR CREEK AND UPDATE ON FM 528 RIGHT OF WAY . �*COUNCILMEMBER HAJECATE MOVED FOR APPROVAL OF LETTER AGREEMENT WITH WAYNE SMITH AND ASSOCIATES TO FAOVIDE ENGINEERING SERVICES FOR RENOVATION OF THE DEEPWOOD LIFT STATION .
