HEARING NO FURTHER INPUT, MAYOR NEWMAN CLOSED THE PUBLIC HEARING .
MRS . JOHN BAKER APPEARED BEFORE COUNCIL AND PRESENTED A $500
DONATION FROM LUBY � S CAFETERIA FOR THE LIBRARY "CHALLENGE 365 . "
MAYOR NEWMAN REPORTED THE CITY IS WORKING WITH THE U . S . CORPS OF
ENGINEERS REGARDING THE CLEAR CREEK PROJECT AND THE RAILROAD
BRIDGE HOLDUP , REPORTED ON MEETING WITH GALVESTON COUNTY ON ROADS
AND TRANSPORTATION AND BRIDGES AND REPORTED CORRESPONDENCE WILL
BE SENT REQUESTING SUPPORT FOR FUNDING FOR AREA ROAD PROJECTS .
COUNCILMEMBER LOWE REPORTED ON MEETING WITH THE SENIOR CITIZENS
ON THE CENTENNIAL PLANS � ATTENDED THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
COMMITTEE MEETING REGARDING THE CLOVER FIELD AIRPORT MASTER PLAN ,
REQUESTED CITY MANAGER TO LOOK AT THE RUB BOARD EFFECT ON FM 2351
AT THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL AND ALSO REQUESTED CITY MANAGER TO
REVIEW THE DISPATCHERS WORK LOAD .
COUNCILMEMBER RALEY REPORTED ON MEETING WITH THE LIBRARY BUILDING
COMMITTEE REGARDING RENOVATION OF THE ATRIUM BUILDING , REPORTED
ON MEETING WITH THE COUNSELING CENTER ADVISORY BOARD AND WAS
PROVIDED WITH A HISTORY OF THE COUNSELING CENTER , REPORTED THE
BOARD IS CONCERNED WITH THE PENDING MOVE AND HAS STATED THEIR
PREFERENCE TO STAY IN THE SAME AREA DUE TO CONFIDENTIALITY AND
STATED BOARD FEELS THE COUNSELING CENTER IS A BRIDGE AS A
ALTERNATE TO HEALTH CARE .
COUNCILMEMBER STUART REPORTED ON ATTENDING H . C .M & C . LAST MONTH
WITH JUDGE JON LINDSEY AS GUEST SPEAKER , ATTENDED THE CLEAR CREEK
WATERSHED MEETING AND REPORTED THE CCDD AND CITY ENGINEER ARE
WORK ON A REGIONAL DETENTION PLAN, REPORTED ON ATTENDING THE
COMMITTEE AND GENERAL MEETING REGARDING THE CLOVER FIELD AIRPORT
MASTER PLAN AND EXPRESSED HIS APPRECIATION TO COMMUNITY
DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR JIMMIE THOMPSON FOR SUPERVISING THE STREET
PROGRAMS THAT ARE ONGOING IN THE CITY AT THIS TIME .
COUNCILMEMBER MANISON REPORTED THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE
VOTED UNANIMOUSLY TO SUPPORT CONTINUED MEMBERSHIP IN THE
C . L . A . E . D . F . , ATTENDED THE CLOVER FIELD AIRPORT MASTER PLAN
MEETING , ATTENDED THE TEXAS INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT CONFERENCE
SESSION ON ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT SALES TAX , AND REPORTED THE DRAFT
REPORT ON THE GALVESTON BAY ESTUARY PROGRAM IS AVAILABLE.
COUNCILMEMBER MEASELES REPORTED ON THE DICKINSON BAYOU WATERSHED
MEETING AND REPORTED PHASE TWO WILL BE COMPLETED IN OCTOBER , AND
