COUNCIL RE-CONVENED INTO OPEN SESSION WITH NO ACTION 7 : 00 PM . INVOCATION WAS GIVEN BY COUNCILMEMBER TOM MANISON. MAYOR NEWMAN LED THE PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE . TAKEN AT MAYOR NEWMAN PRESENTED PRO�L•AMATTON FOR THE MONTH OF SEPTEMBER AS � FISD ATHLETIC �USTANG BOOSTER CLUB "SPIRIT MONTH" AND A 20 , 1993 AS ��BACK TO SCHOOL WEEK . " UGUST 18- MAYOR NEWMAN REPORTED ON ATTENDING TML REGION 14 MEETING IN GALVESTON WITH MEMBERS OF COUNCIL , COUNCIL WILL MEET ON MONDAY AUGUST 23 FOR A BUDGET WORKSHOP WITH THE COUNCIL WORKING TO KEEP THE TAX RATE AND HOMESTEAD EXEMPTION INTACT, WILL REQUEST A UPDATE ON COVER FIELD AIRPORT FROM DAN ILLERICH , REPORTED THERE WILL BE A WORKSHOP ON THE FIRST DRAFT OF THE FEASIBILITY STUDY ON THE GOLFCOURSE , COUNCILMEMBER LOWE REPORTED ON ATTENDING THE TML REGION 1 � MEETING WITH THE OTHER SURROUNDING CITIES , REPORTED ON THE CENTENNIAL COMMITTEE MEETING AND REPORTED COUNCIL IS WORKING ON THE RESOLUTION TO THE BUDGET . 1 3 ��CILMEMBER STUART REPORTED ON THE CLEAR STUDY , AND REPORTED ON ATTENDING THE TML REGION 1 �EMEETINGEWHICH WAS VERY INFORMATIVE . COUNCILMEMBER MEASELES REPORTED ON ATTENDING THE P & Z MEETING ON AUGUST 5 AND REPORTED PLANNER DAVID HOOVER IS PREPARING A OVERLAY FOR THE DO;dNTOj•7N CORRIDOR FOR A POSSIBLE ZONING CHANGES , REPORTED ON ATTENDING THE DICKINSON BAYOU WATERSHED MEETING , ATTENDED THE TML REGION 14 MEETING AND REPORTED ON MEETING WITH REPRESENTATIVES REGARDING A CEMETERY AND FUNERAL HOME . COUNCILMEMBER HAJECATE REPORTED ON ATTENDING THE 4TH OF JULY RECAP MEETING WHERE CITIZENS COMMENTS WERE ADDRESSED , REPORTED THE COMMITTEE CAME IN UNDER BUDGET AND SUGGESTED THE POSSIBILITY OF HOMEOWNER ASSOCIATION ' S HAVING SUBDIVISION GARAGE SALES WHICH COULD CUT DOWN OId THE NUMBER OF GARAGE SALE SIGNS . MR . GERALD GARRISON FROM POLLY RANCH ADDRESSED COUNCIL REGARDING HIS CONCERN FOR THE ATHLETIC COMPLEXES AND STATED IT IS ESSENTIAL THE CITY BE PRO—ACTIVE IN DEVELOPING FACILITIES FOR OUR KIDS . MR . LEE GRIFFITH REPRESENTSNG THE SOCCER ASSOCIATION APPEARED BEFORE COUNCIL TO EXPRESS DIS—SATISFACTION FOR THE LACK OF ACTION REGARDING PURCHASE OF LAND FOR ATHLETIC COMPLEX AND URGED COUNCIL TO PROCEED TO COMPLETE THIS LAND ACQUISITION . MS . SKY LYN MINKOFF , PRESIDENT OF FRIENDSWOOD HISTORICAL SOCIETY APPEARED BEFORE COUNCIL AND PRESENTED THE CENTENNIAL EDITION OF �'THE PROMISED LAND�� TO THE CITY AND TO THE LIBRARY . CITY MANAGER REPORTED ON GALVESTON BAY NATIONAL ESTUARY PROGRAM , SUNMEADOW TELEPHONE EXCHANGE AREA CASE , REPORTED ON A BOY SCOUT PROJECT TO STENCIL THE STORM SEWER MESSAGE ON AS MANY COVERS AS POSSIBLE AND REPORTED ON MEETING WITH THE SURVEYORS FOR LAKE FRIENDSWOOD AND REPORTED THERE APPEARS TO BE SOME DISCREPANCIES IN THE PROPERTY LINE BOUNDARIES . COUNCILMEMBER LOWE ASKED WHAT WORDING THE BOY SCOUTS WOULD BE IISING FOR THE STORM SEWER COVERS . CITY MANAGER ADVISED THEY WOULD WORK ON THE WORDING BUT WOOLD BE SOMETHING TO THE EFFECT "DO NOT POUR OIL OR GREASE IN DRAIN , STORM SEWER GOES TO THE BAY • " COUNCILMEMBER LOWE SUGGESTED THE WORDING COULD INCLUDE "KEEP AREA CLEAR OF DEBRIS" COUNCILMEMBER MANISON STATED THE STENCILING USED BY THE GALVESTON BAY ESTUARY FOR THE DRAINS IS THE SAME AND SUGGESTED THE CITY MANAGER DETERMINE THE WORDING BEING USED BY THIS GROUP .
