ACTIVITIES , RECOGNIZING THE GATHERING COMMITTEE , JANIS LOWE �
BENNY BAKER AND BEN MALEK , REPORTED THAT CHANNEL 13 WAS SO
IMPRESSED WITH THE �TH CELEBRATION THAT THEY ARE ENTERING THEIR
TELEVISION FOOTAGE IN A CONTEST , RECOGNIZED THE MANY VOLUNTEERS
THAT WORKED SO HARD TO PUT ON THE �4TH OF JULY CELEBRATION AND
REPORTED ON RECEIVING NUMEROUS COMMENTS REGARDING THE SCHEDULING
OF THE VARIOIIS ACTIVITIES , SPECIFICALLY THE NIGHT PROGRAM AND THE
FIRE WORKS DISPLAY AND STATED THIS WILL BE WILL BE TAKEI3 INTO
CONSIDERATION NE}tT YEAR .

COUNCILMEMBER HAJECATE STATED AS A MEMBER OF THE 4TH OF JULY
STEERING COMMITTEE SHE APPRECIATED THE MANY CONSTRUCTIVE COMMENTS
REGARDING THE �TH ACTIVITIES AND STATED THE COMMITTEE WILL REVIEW
THEIR PROGRAM FOR NEXT YEAR AND EXPRESSED APPRECIATION FOR THE
PARKS DEPARTMENT AND WORK CREW AND THE MANY VOLUNTEERS THAT
WORKED SO HARD FOR THE 4TH OF JULY ACTIVITIES .
COUNCILMEMBER MEASELES EXPRESSED HIS APPRECIATION FOR THE
VOLUNTEERS THAT WpRK SO HARD FOR THE 4TH OF JULY ACTIVITIES AND
SUGGESTED THE FIREWORKS BE HELD BEFORE THE CONCERT NEXT YEAR ,
REPORTED THE CLEAR LAKE AREA COUNCIL OF CITIES WILL MEET
WEDNESDAY AND THE GUEST SPEAKER WILL BE MR . DON ALLEN WITH THE
CORPS OF ENGINEERS .
COUNCILMEMBER MANISON THANKED THE 4TH OF JULY COMMITTEE , REPORTED
ON THE EFFORTS BY CLEAR LAKE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AREA COUNCIL ON
BEHALF OF FUNDING FOR SPACE STATION FREEDOM , REPORTED ON THE
GALVESTON BAY ESTUARY PROGRAM AND STATED HE WOULD RECOMMEND
SOMEONE BE APPOINTED TO THIS COMMITTEE ANA SUGGESTED PLANNER
DAVID HOOVER BE CONSIDERED .
COUNCILMEMBER STUART REPORTED ON MEETING WITH MS . SHARON ROOS ,
RON COX AND DAVID HOOVER REGARDING COMPOSTING AND MS . ROOS HAS
BEEN ASKED FOR A OUTLINE AND A PLAN FOR CONSULTING FOR A
COMPOSTING PROGRAM , REPORTED THE CONTRACTORS ARE DOING A GOOD JOB
ON THE FORCE MAIN PROJECT PARTICULARLY AT THE OVERHEAD STRUCTURE
AT THE CREEK , REPORTED THE CONCRETE STREET PROGRAM IS UNDERWAY ON
MARY ANN AND CEDARWOOD REPORTED THE CLEAR CREEK WATERSHED
COMMITTEE WYLL MEET NEXT WEDNESDAY AT 7 : 00 AT PEARLAND CITY HALL
AND ANNOUNCED RESIDENTS OF POLLY RANCH WERE IN A TRAFFIC ACCIDENT
IN LUBBOCK WITH THEIR EIGHT YEAR OLD SON BEING KILLED AND THEIR
OTHER SON IS IN CRITICAL CONDITION AND REPORTED CONTRIBUTIONS MAY
BE SENT TO TEXAS COMMERCE BANK TO HELP WITH MEDICAL AND FUNERAL
EXPENSES .
COUNCILMEMBER RALEY REPORTED THE 4TH OF JULY CELEBRATION WAS WELL
DONE , POSSIBLY STRAYED FROM THE PATRIOTIC THEME AND STATED
THE PLANNING COMMITTEE NEEDS TO KEEP PATRIOTTSM IN SIGHT IN ORDER
THAT THE CHTLDREN WILL KNOW WHAT 4TH OF JULY IS ALL ABOUT, STATED
HE APPRECIATES ALL THE VOLUNTEERS FOR THE MANY HOURS THAT WORK
TOWARDS THE 4TH OF JULY CELEBRATION , STATED ON THE FLOODING THAT
IS BEING EXPERIENCED IN SEVERAL STATES THAT WE SHOULD BE AWARE OF
AND READY TO RESPOND WITH MATERIAL HELP .
COUNCILMEMBER LOWE STATED THE CITY HAS RECEIVED MANY COMPLAINTS
BOTH VERBAL AND IN WRITING AND THE CITY NEEDS TO BE RESPONSIVE TO
THESE CONCERNS AND WOULD RECOMMEND A WORKSHOP BE HELD , REPORTED
THE GATHERING WAS SUCCESSFUL AND THAT A SURVEY WILL HE PREPARED
AS TO THE LOCATION OF NEXT YEAR � S FUNCTION AND ENTERTAINMENT ,
AND COMPLIMENTED THE POLICE DEPARTMENT ON THE TRAFFIC
COORDINATION FOR THE 4TH OF JULY FESTIVITIES .
MR . JOHN REMPE WITH ABRAMS CONSTRUCTION COMPANY PRESENTED A
STATUS REPORT ON THE WIDENING PROJECT FOR FM 528 AND FM 2351 .

MR . RICHARD JACKSON APPEAAED BEFORE COUNCIL TO DISCUSS COLLEGE
DISTRICTING, STATING THAT OVER 80� OF FISD STUDENTS ATTEND
COLLEGE AND THAT FRIENDSWOOD IS NOT IN A COLLEGE DISTRICT ,
THEREFORE FRIENDSWOOD STUDENTS PAY OUT OF DISTRICT REGISTRATION
FEES OF APPROXIMATELY $120 AND REQUESTED COUNCIL TO INVESTIGATE
AS TO HOW TO BRING FRIENDSWOOD INTO A COLLEGE DISTRICT OR SPECIAL
DISTRICT . MAYOR NEWMAN THANKED MR . JACKSON AND ADVISED THE MATTER
WILL BE LOOKED INTO AND A REPORT WILL BE GTVEN .
MR . PAT ST . CRIEQ APPEARED BEFORE COUNCIL TO ADDRESS HIS CONCERNS
REGARDING LAKE FRIENDSWOOD , REPORTED AS A MEMBER OF THE LAKE
FRIENDSWOOD STEERING COMMITTEE HE HAS BEEN PROVIDED WITH A COPY
OF A DEED WITHOUT WARRANTY TO MR . DANIEL TOSTADA FOR 2 . 79� ACRES
� IN THE LAKE AND 2 . 568 ACRES BEHIND THE PROPERTY AND THAT MR .
TOSTADA HAD BEEN PAYING PROPERTY TAXES TO LEAGUE CITY PRIOR TO
FRIENDSWOOD ANNEXING THIS AREA AND STATED HE WOULD RESPECTFULLY
REQUEST COUNCTL TO WTTHDRAW THE GRANT APPLICATION FOR LAKE
FRIENDSWOOD AND RE-APPLY FOR FUNDING FOR A SPORTS COMPLEX.
MS . SUSAN ZEPEDA APPEARED BEFORE COUNCIL AND REQUESTED COUNCIL
FAVORABLY CONSTDER HER BID FOR THE LOT ON COWARD CREEK .
MR . JESS WILLIAMS APPEARED BEFORE COUNCIL AND EXPRESSED HIS
CONCERNS REGARDTNG THE �TH OF JULY CELEBRATTON SPECIFICALLY THE
PARADE PARTICIPANTS , DECORATIONS FOR THE PARADE ROUTE , BOOTHS AND
ENTERTAINMENT IN STEVENSON PARK AND THE EVENING PROGRAM AND
REQUESTED COUNCIL TAKE THESE CONCERNS INTO CONSIDERATION .
