COUNCIL CONVENED INTO EXECLIT7V� ��SSTON ACCORDING TO TEXAS OPEN MEETINGS LAW 6252-17 , TEXAS VERNON ' S CIVIL STATUTES (g) APPOINTMENT , EMPLOYMENT, EVALUATION, REASSIGNMENT , DUTIES , DISCIPLINE , OR DSSMISSAL OF A PUBLIC OFFICER OR EMPLOYEE , OR TO HEAR COMPLAINTS OR CHARGES AGAINST SUCH OFFICER OR EMPLOYEE. A) PERSONNEL MATTERS REGARDING POLICE DEPARTMENT COUNCIL RECONVENED IN OPEN SESSION WITH NO ACTION TAKEN AT 7 : 00 P . M. . INVOCATION WAS GIVEN BY MR . SAM NASSIFF , FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH OF FRIENDSWOOD . MAYOR NEWMAN LED THE PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE . �AYOR NEWMAN PROCL.AIMED JUNE 1 - NOVEMBER 30 , 1993 AS "GULF HURRICANE SEASON" AND PRESENTED THE PROCLAMATION TO DAVTD COLLINS , FIRE MARSHAL/EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT COORDINATOR . MAYOR NEWMAN REPORTED THE RIGHT OF WAY ACQUISITION FOR FM 528 AND BAY AREA BOULEVARD IS PROCEEDING AND SHOULD BE C4MPLETE IN THE NEXT TWO MONTHS REPORTED ON STREET FLOODING RECENTLY AND URGED EVERYONE TO KEEP THEIR DEBRIS FROM GOING DOWN THE DRAINS AND HELP KEEP THE DRAINS CLEAN AND REPORTED THE SALES TAX HAS INCREASED THIS YEAR AND THANKED EVERYONE FOR SHOPPING IN FRIENDSWOOD . MAYOR NEWMAN REMOVED COUNCILMEMBER LOWE AS LIAISON TO THE CENTENNIAL COMMITTEE AND APPOINTED HER AS A VOTING MEMBER AND REMOVED COUNCILMEMBER MANISON AS LIAISON TO THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL AND APPOINTED HIM AS A VOTING MEMBER . 1 304 COUNCILMEMBER HAJECATE THANKED THE EMS VOLUNTEERS FOR THEIR MANY HOURS THEY CONTRIBUTE TO THIS COMMUNITY . COUNCILMEMBER MEASELES AuNOUNCED THE CEMETERY LEGISLATION PASSED AND STATED THE CITY WILL BE LOOKING FOR INTEREST PARTIES TO DEVELOP A CEMETERY IN FRIENDSWOOD AND REPORTED PLANNING AND . ZONING COMMISSION IS BEGINNING DISCUSSIONS REGARDING REVISING THE SIGN ORDINANCE . COUNCILMEMBER MANISON EXPRESSED DEEPEST SYMPATHY ON BEHALF OF CITY COUNCIL FOR THE LOSS OF CITY ATTORNEY TODD STEWART ' S MOTHER , REPORTED ON H . G . A . C . MID YEAR REPORT ON AGING SERVICES , COMMUNZTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM , REGIONAL REVIEW GRANT PROGRAM , COOPERATIVE PURCHASING , CRIMINAL JUSTICE , JOB TRAINING , CLEAR AIR ACT , 911 PHONE SYSTEMS , TRANSPORTATION PROGRAM AND REPORTED ON A ME.ETING SCHEDULED FOR JULY 9 FOR THE GALVESTON SAY ESTUARY PROGRAM. COUNCILMEMBER STUART STATED THAT IN THE TRANSPORTATION PROJECTS THAT ONLY TWO WERE AWARDED DUE TO FEDERAL CHANGES , THERE WERE NO DOLLARS FOR GALVESTON COUNTX .
