MAYOR SCHRADER PROCLAIMED JUNE 1-NOVEMBER 3� : 1991 AS "GULF HURRICANE SEASON" AND FRESENTED THE PROCLAMATION TO LUCY WOLTZ , REPRESENTING THE EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT DEPARTMENT AND PROCLAIMED WEEK OF JUNE 3-8 , 19g1 AS "MANAGEMENT WEEK" . 468 � MAYOR SCHRADER RECOGNIZED CAROLYN WRIGHT AND GLENDA MCDONALD WHO WERE PRESENTED THE "KEY" TO THE CITY LA�T WEEK IN RECOGNITION FOR THE TIME AND DEDICATION TO THE DRUG AWARENESS PROGRAM AND PROJECT PROM. MAYOR SCHRADER ANNOUNCED THE SECOND READING OF THE SIGN ORDINANCE � WILL BE ON THE AGENDA FOR JUNE 17TH, PARKS AND RECREATION HAS PUBLISHED THEIR SUMMER SCHEDULE , Y.N.O. C . PROGRAM STARTED THIS ' WEEK , CORRESPONDENCE WAS SENT TO LEGISLATURES IN SUPPORT OF THE SPACE STATION FREEDOM, REPORTED ON CLOVER FIELD AIRPORT AND ., STATED HE WOULD LIKE TO REQUEST NOTICES OF AIRPORT COMMITTEE MEETINGS BE POSTED IN ALL THAEE CITY HALLS AND MEETINGS BE HELD AT ONE OF THE CITY HALLS. CaUNCSLMEMBER RITTER FORMALLY CONGRATULATED COUNCILMEMBER MEL MEASELES ON BEING ELECTED TO POSTTION �2 AND RECOGNIZED PAST CONTRIBUTIONS OF BQB WICKLANDER OVER THE PAST FIFTEEN YEARS, PUBLICLY THANKED CARQLYN WRI�HT AND GLENDA MCDONALD ON REGEIYING THE KEY TO THE CITY AND SETTING EXAMPLES FOR MANY TO FOLLOW AND RESPONDED TO MAYOR SCHRADER ' S STATEMENT ON CLOVER FIELD AIRPORT . COUNCTLMEMBER MEASELES ALSO RECOGNIZED BOB WICKLANDERS CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE CITX ; REPORTED THE RED CROSS SHELTER IS PREPARED FOR THE HURRICANE SEASON AND URGED CITIZENS TO PREPARE NOW BY ACQUIRING NEEDED SUPPLIES , REPORTED ON ATTENDING T.M.L . REGION 1u MEETING LAST WEEK WITH COUNCILMEMBER STUART, CITY MANAGER AND CITY SECRETARY AND ANNOUNCED THE LIONS CLUB WILL BE HOLDING A FUND RAISER THIS SATURDAY AND SUNDAY . COUNCILMEMBER NEWMAN RECOGNIZED BOB WICKLANDERS CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE CITY OVER THE PAST 10 YEARS, IN PARTICULAR THE "PAY AS XOU GO STREET PROGRAM" , WELCOMED COUNCILMEMBER MEASELES AND THANKED THOSE THAT WORKED AND SUPPORTED PROJECT PROM. COUNCILMEMBER STUART REPQRTED ON ATTENDING GALVESTON COUNTY MAYORS AND COUNCILMENS ASSOCIATION MEETING LAST WEEK WITH MAYOR SCHRADER , REPORTED ON ATTENDING THE T .M.L . REGION 1 � MEETING LAST WEEK AND REPORTED THE SPEAKER , JACK FLOYD , PROVIDED A VERY INFORMATIONAL PROGRAM ON INSURANCE. COU.NCILMEMBER RALEY WELCOMED COUNCILMEMBER MEASELES , ASKED ABOUT THE. REPAIRS TO THE BUILDING BY STOP N GO AT SUNMEADOW AND THANKED BOB, WICKLANDER FOR HIS WORK ON COUNCIL. GOUNCILMEMBER FRANKOVICH CONGRATULATED COUNCTLMEMBER MEASELES ON HIS ELECTION TO POSI�ION �2 AND EXPRESSED CONCERN REGARDING THE EROSION OF THE SIDES OF THE BANKS OF THE DETENTION POND ON FM 528 AND ASKED IF THE SANKS HAD BEEN HYDRO-MULCHED . MAYOR SGHRADER PROCLAIMED THE WEEK OF JUNE 2-S , 1991 AS TMTEACHER 'THANK-YOU ' WEEKTM AND PRESENTED THE PROCLAMATION TO F . I .S.D , SUPERINTENDENT TED THOMAS AND PRESENTED MR . THOMAS WITH A PROCLAMATION IN RECOGNITION OF HIS RETIREMENT AND HIS MANY YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE SCHOOL DISTRICT AND PROCLAIMED JUNE 1 �TH AS "TED THOMAS DAY" IN THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD . 469 ARTIST LAURIE WHITEHEAD PRESENTED TO �HE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD A ARTIST PROOF OF HER QUINTO CENTENARIO PAINTING AS A THANK YOU T4 THE CTTY FOR PROVIDING SUPPORT FaR TRANSPORTING HER PAINTING TO THE MARITIME MUSEUM FOR A SHOWING. MS. WHITEHEAD ANNOUNCED SHE HAS BEEN SELECTED BY THE STATE OF TEXAS TO DO THE OFFICIAL '� PAINTING OF WELCOMING BACK THE TROOPS TO TEXAS AND UNVEILED HER PAINTING "TEXAS SALUTE TQ OUR TROOPSTM THAT SHE IS WORKING ON . MS. PENNY BURKE , CHAIRMAN PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD , �" APPEARED BEFORE COUNCIL ALONG WITH NUMEROUS MEMBERS OF THE PARKS BOARD AND PRESENTED THE PROPOSED STEVENSON PARK MASTER PLAN WHICH WAS DESIGNED BY GALVESTON COUNTY BEACH PARKS BOARD PLANNING DIVISION AND THE ESTIMATED COST IS APPROXIMATELY $365 TO $375 THOUSAND . MS. BURKE REPORTED THE PARKS BOARD IS LOOKING AT 1776 PARK AND ALSO LOOKING AT CONNECTING ARENA PARK WITH STEVENSON PARK. MAYOR SCHRADER SUGGESTED THE PARKS BOARD PREPARE A PRIORITY LISTING FOR A THREE � YEAR PERIOD AND STATED THE COUNCIL WOULD VOTE ON THIS PROPOSED PLAN. COUNCILMEMBER STUART AAVISED THE ROTARY CLUB IS LOOKING FOR A PROJECT TO FUND AND WOULD LIKE TO DISCUSS THIS WITH THE PARKS BOARD . COUNCILMEMBER FRANKOVICH SUGGESTED A WORKSAOP MEETING BE HELD . COUNCILMEMBER RITTER SUGGESTED THE PARKS BOARD LOOK AT THE POSSIBIL:ITY OF LINKING THE CITY PARK FACILITTES, POSSIBLY WITH BIKE OR WALKING PATHS. CITY MANAGER REPORTED ON CABLE TV FRANCHISE TAX , REVISIONS TO BUILDING COAES, ENGINEERING SCHEDULE FOR SOUTH FRIENDSWOOD SEWER PROJECT , POTENTIALLY SUBSTANDARD STRUCTURE , UPDATE ON SON LIGHT MISSION AND STATED STAFF HAD GAINED A GREAT DEAL FROM OUTGOING COUNCILMEMBER BOB WICKLANDERS EXTENSIVE TENURE ON C�UNCIL AND STATED HIS LEADERSHIP WILL BE MISSED . COUNCILMEMBER RITTER REQUESTED A BRIEFING ON THE STANDARD BUILDING CODES , EXISTING VERSUS REVISED AND SUGGESTED THE CITY PUBLISH INFORMATTON ON HURRICANES FOR THE NEW PEOPLE THAT HAVE MOVED INTO THIS AREA .
