RIBBON CAMPAIGN�i WEEK IN RECOGNIZION OF CA9PAIGN AGAINST DRUGS .
MAYOR SCHRADER REPORTED THE CI?'Y IS CONTINUING TO HAVE WATER
BREAKS , WITH ELEVEN WATER BREAKS LAST WEEK AND SEVEN OVER THE
WEEKEND , THE CITY IS SPENDING A LOT IN �VERTIME IN REPAIRING
WATER BREAKS AND WILL CONTINUE UATIL IT RALNS .
MAY08 SCHRADER REMINDED EVERYGNE THAT T�URSDAY THERE WILL BE
RIBBON CUTTING AT THE CITY HALL ANNEX AT 8 : 30 A .M. THEN A RIBBON
CUTTING WILL BE HELD AT THE NEW ANIMAL HUNANE FACILITY AND THEN
GROUND BREAKING WILL TAKE PLACE AT THE SUR �ACE WATER TANK AT THE
CORNER OF BLACKHAWK AND FM 528 .
MAYOR SCHRADER REPORTED HE ATTENDED DEDICITION OF THE TRI-COUNTY
Y .M. C .A . SPORTS FIELD IN PEARLAND .

MAYOR SCHRADER ANNOUNCED THAT ON OCTOBER 21ST A S�NIOR CITIZEN
FUN FEST IS PLANNED AT JONES HANGAR WITH OVER 350 LETTERS OF
INVITATION BEING SENT STATING THAT ALL SENIOR CITIZENS ARE
INVITED TO ATTEND AND LEARN A LITTLE BIT ABOUT OPPORTUNITIES THAT
ARE BEING LOOKED AT FOR SENIOR CITIZENS IN OUR COMMUNITY .
MAYOR SCHRADER ANNOUNCED THE PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD FOR THE BRIO ,
SUPERFUND SITE CONSENT DECREE HAS BEEN EXTENDED FOR THIRTY DAYS
WHICH WILL END OCTOBER 28TH AND A TOWN MEETING OPEN FORUM IS
PLANNED FOR OCTOBER 23RD AT 7 : 00 AT CITY HALL TO REVIEW THE ' `�
CONSENT DECREE WITH ANYONE THAT MAY HAVE QUESTIONS REGARDING THE
FACILITY OR THE CONSENT DECREE.
MAXOR SCHRADER REPORTED THAT THE CITY' S REQUEST TO HAVE CHRISTMAS
LIGHTS ON THE ESPLANADE HAS BEEN TURNED DOWN BY THE STATE HIGHWAY
DEPARTMENT.
COUNCILMEMBER WICKLANDER ANNOUNCED THERE WIIL BE A
FRIENDSWOOD/ALVIN/PEARLAND CLOVERFIELD AIRPORT COMM= TTEE MEETING
THIS TUESDAY AT 7 : 00 PM AT CLQVERFIELD AIRFQRT AND EVERYaNE IS
INVITED TO ATTEND .
COUNCILMEMBER STUART REPORTED TH� CLEAR CREEK REGIONI,� WATER SHED
COMMITTEE MET LAST WEEK AT FRIENDSWOOD LIBRARY WITH A COMMITTEE
BEING FORMED TO DRAW UP SUGGESTED GUIDELINES AND ORGANIZATION FOR
AN INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT AS FAR AS THE ACTUAL WORK �, ND PROJECTS
FOR CLEAR CREEK . COUNCILMEMBER STUART STATED AT THE PRESENT TIME
DANNENBAUM AND ENGINEERING COMPANY IS PREPARING A STiDY WHICH IS
DUE TO BE COMPLETED IN FEBRUARY AND THEN PHASE TWO W] LL BEGIN AND
AT THIS TIME THE CITY WILL DECIDE WHETHER TO CONTItUE TO BE A
PARTICIPANT IN THIS PLAN. COUNCTLMEMBER STUART REP0I�TED THE NEXT
MEETING WILL BE IN NOVEMBERe
COUNCILMEMBER STUART REPORTED HE CHECKED WITH BEST � ASTE AND THE
CITY WILL BE RECEIVING APPROXTMATELY $2 , 000 EXTRA TIIS YEAR DUE
TO THE NEW STATE LAW ON C�MMERCIAL GARBAGE COLLECTItN , THE TAX
WILL BE PAID TO THE ERTITY WHERE THE ACTUAL GARBAGI COLLECTION
OCCURRED RATHER THAN WHERE IT IS BILLED . COUNCILMIMBER STUART
STATED THE CITY IS ALREADY CpLLECTING FOR RES: DENTIAL AND
THEREFORE THE CITY ALREADY RETAINS THAT TAX.
CARL SMITH, CHAIRMAN DRUG PREVENTION ADVISORY COMMITTEE
PRESENTED AN EXCELLENT IN—DEPTH DRUG REPORT WHICH INCLUDED
RECOMMENDATIONS FOR COUNCIL CONSIDERATIONS AND CALLED FOR A TOWN
MEETING THE END aF THIS MONTH AND INTRODUCED THE COMMITTEE THAT
WORKED ON THIS PROJECT. ,.

RECEIVE PUBLIC INPUT BOTH ORAL AND WRITTEN REGARDING REQUEST FOR
