MAYOR SCHRADER PROCLAIMED WEEK OF APRIL 9 — 15 , 1989 AS "NATIONAL VICTIPi RIGHTS WEEK" . MAYOR SCIiRADER ANNOUNCED THE YOUTH BASEBALL OPENING DAY PARADE AND CEREMONIES WERE ENJOYED BY APPROXIMATELY 3000 AND CONGRATULATED PARKS AND RECREATION COORDINATOR JON BRANSON FOR A JOB WELL DONE . MAYOR SCHRADER REPORTED THAT ON SATURDAY , THE COMNIUNITY APPEARANCE HOARD DID LANDSCAPING ON ONE OF THE MEDIANS AS AN EXAr1PLE AS TO WfiAT CAN BE DONE AND SALUTED DAVE P9CCULLOUGH , CARL SMITH , GENE ELLEN SMITH AND MARY BROWN FOR THE NICE JOB THEY DID . MAYOR SCHRADER REPORTED THAT LAST WEEK HE HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO GO ON A CIVIC LEADER TOUR TO COLORADO TO VISIT A NUMBER OF AIR FORCE BASES AND SAW HOW SOrIE OUR F10tdEY IS BEING SPENT ON DEFENSE AND FROM WHAT HE COULD SEE WAS BEING SPENT VERY WELL . MAYOR SCHRADER STATED ON ECONOP4IC DEVELOPtiENT WHEN PAUL MAAZ APPEARED BEFORE COUNCIL AND TALK�D ABOUT UPDATING THE INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION BY—LAWS AND AFTER DISCUSSING THIS WITH CITY ATTORNEY HE ADVISES THE INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT CORPORATIOid SHOULD STAND AS IT IS AND WILL BE PRESENTING ANOTHER ORGANIZATION WHICH WILL BE AN ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMl9ITTEE . COUNCILMEMBER RITTER REPORTED ABOUT COMPLAINTS REGARDING LOUD NOISES FROM A PARTY AND AFTER CFIECKING WITH DISPATC$ER LEARNED THE POLICE DEPARTMENT REALLY DOES NOT HAVE AN ORDIAIANC� WITH ANY TEETH WHEN THEY GO OUT TO INVESTIGATE THIS TYPE OF PROEiLEA1 AND REQUESTED CITY MATIAGER TO CHECK T� SEE WHAT COULD BE DONE . COUNCILMEMBER RITTER STATED HE ATTENDED THE CLEAR CREEK INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT BOARD MEETING DISCUSSING WHETHER TO TRANSFER 6TH GRADERS FROI�! THE ELEMENTARY LEVEL TO THE INTERMEDIATE LEVEL , THERE WERE A NUr9BER OF PAREI�TS FROM WEDGEWOOD VILLAGE IN ATTENDANCE AND Ar! PLEASED TO REPORT THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES DID VOTE TO CONTINUE THE 6Tfi GAADE CHILDREN AT THE ELEMENTARY LEVEL AT LEAST FOR THE NEXT YEAR . COUNCILMEMBER RITTER STATED HE JUST WAfJTED TO t9AKE COUNCIL AWARE HE HAS RECEIVED A NUMBER OF CALLS FR0�7 CITIZENS OF WEDGEWOOD VERY MUCH CONCERNED ABOUT THE NEW SUBDIVISION OPENING INTO WEDGEWOOD VILLAGE SUBDIVISION . COUNCILMEMBER RITTER STATED HF ALSO ATTENDED THE YOUTH SOFTBALL OPENING DAY CEREMONIES AND ALSO WANTED TO CONGRATULATE JOP1 BRANSON ON AN OUTSTANDING JOB . COUNCILMEMBER WICKLANDER STATED HE ALSO RECEIVED CALLS FROM RESIDENTS OF WEDGEWOOD EXPRESSING CONCERN OVER TIiE PROPOSED NEW SUBDIVISION . 1 40 COUNCILMEMBER NEWMAN REPORTED SHE CONTINUES TO RECEIVE CALLS REGARDING THE ,GRAFFITI ON CAS1'LrW00D AA]U MAYUR SCII]�ADF,R ADVISED A LETTER HAS BEEN WRITTEN TO TI�B OWNERS UF 1'lIE PROPERTY . MS . LODA BELL WAS INTRODUCED BY TOM BURKE TO ADDRESS COUNCIL ON BEHALF OF OVER 200 SENIOR CITIZENS TO PRESENT PETITIONS REQUESTING HIGHER HOMESTEAD EXEMPTION OF $25 , 000 . DISCUSSION WAS HELD REGARDING CITY SERVICES TO P4URPHY—��ILLS SUBDIVISION WITH COUNCILtiEMBER fJEWt1AN RECOt4t9ENDING ASSESSMENT FOR WATER AND SEWER FOR THOSE THAT NEVER PAID UP FRONT IN THE APSOUNT OF $1 �4 . 00 PER LINEAR FOOT .
