WAS HELD ON MARCH 13 , 1989 AT CITY HALL AT 7 : 00 PM WITH THE �
FOLLOWING PRESENT CONSTITUTING A QUORUM :

INVOCATION WAS GIVEN BY COUNCILMEMBER RON RITTER .
REPRESENTATIVES FROM GIRL SCOUTS SOUTH TEXAS AND SAN JACINTO
COUNCIL LED THE PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE .
MAYOR SCHRADER ANNOUNCED THERE WAS A MEETING ON SATIIRDAY MORNING
WHICH WAS THE SECOND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT MEETING AND JOHN
PRIVETT FROM THE TAX RESEARCH GROUP WAS GUEST SPEAKER .
MAYQR SCHRADER REPORTED A RECEPTION WAS HELD FOR PQLICE CHIEF
STOUT LAST WEDNESDAY EVENING AND THANKED EVERYONE THAT MADE THE
RECEPTION POSSI.BLE .
MAYOR SCHRADER ANNOUNCED THAT ON WEDNESDAY , MARCH 15TH AT 11 : 00
AM THERE WILL BE AN OFFICIAL RIBBON CUTTING FOR FM 518 ROAD
PROJECT AND N[JMEROUS REPRESENTATIVES HAVE BEEN INVITED TO ATTEND .
MAYOR SCHRADER PROCLAIMED THE WEEK OF MARCH 12 - 18 , 1989 AS GIRL
SCOUT WEEK AND PRESENTED PROCLAMATIONS TO SOUTH TEXAS AND SAN
JACINTO COUNCIL OF GIRL SCOUTS .
MAYOR SCHRADER PROCLAIMED WEEK OF P4ARCH 13 - 19 , 1989 AS
INTERNATIONAL DEMOLAY WEEK AND PRESENTED THE PROCLAMATION TO JOE
TODD FROM THE SEABROOK CHAPTER .
COUNCILMEMBER RITTER REPORTED HE ATTENDED THE ECONOMIC
DEVELOPMENT MEETING ON SATURDAY AND STATED IT WAS REAL EXCITING
TO SEE LEADERS OF THE COMMUNITY GATHERING TOGETHER � GETTING ON
TRACK AND HEADING IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION .
COUNCILMEMBER RITTER ALSO DISCUSSED CORRESPONDENCE RECEIVED TO
PARTICIPATE IN THE OPENING DAY CEREP90NIES FOR THE YOUTH SOFTBALL
SEASON . COUNCILMEMBER RITTER STATED HE HAD RECEIVED CALLS
REGARDING PUBLIC OFFICIALS RIDING IN THE PARADE WHICH TOaK AWAY
FRQM THE KIDS AND STATED HE FELT CaUNCIL SHOULD PARTICIPATE IN
THE OPENING CEREMONIES AND LEAVE THE PARADE TO THE KIDS .
COUNCILMEMBER WICKLANDER ANNOUNCED A RECEPTION WAS HELD ON HIS
SEHALF AT THE HOt9E OF RALPH AND MARGE LOWE AS A SUPPORT GROUP FOR
LAST YEARS EFFaRT AS A CANDIDATE FOR COUNTY COMMISSIONER AS WELL
AS TIME SPENT IN CITY GOVERNMENZ' ON PLANNING AND ZONING AND AS
CITY COUNCILMAN AND IN ATTENDANCE WAS SPECIAL GUEST AND GOOD
FRIEND � SECRETARY OF STATE JACK RAINS .
COUNCILMEMBER WICKLANDER ANNOUNCED HE HAD FILED APPLICATION FOR
RE-ELECTION TO COUNCIL POSITION 2 .
COUNCILMEMBER NEWMAN STATED COUNCIL HAS RIDDEN IN THE YOUTH
SOFTBALL PARADE IN THE PAST DUE TO RECEIVING INVITATION TO DO SO
BUT STATED AS SUGGESTED BY COUNCILMEMBER RITTER THAT SHOWING UP
FOR OPENING DAY CEREMONIES IS FIP7E WITH fiER .

COUNCILMEMBER LEE STATED SHr FELT THP SAME WAY ABOUT THE YOUTH
SOFTBALL PARADF AND ALSO REMINDED COUNCTL THAT HARRIS COUNTY
MAYORS AND COUNCILMENS ASSOCIATION WILL BE MEETING THIS THURSDAY
AND THE HEAD OF THE HOUSTON LEGISLATIVE DELEGATION WILL BE THE
FEATURE SPEAKER .
COUNCILMEMHER JORDAN STATED SHE AGREED WITH COUNCZLMEMBER RITTERS ,
SUGGESTION REGARDING ONLY ATTENDING OPENING CEREMONIES FOR THE
YOUTH SOFTBALL AND AS TO COUNCILMEMBER WICKLANDERS ANNOUNCEMENT
STATED SHE WAS VERY RELIEVED TO HEAR HE HAS FILED FOR RE-ELECTION � ''
AND THAT HOPEFULLY THE CITY WILL NOT LOSE HIS EXPERIENCE AS IT
HAS BEEN VERY HELPFUL .
COUNCILMEMBER PRIH�DA STATED HE ALSO AGREED WITH COUNCILt4EMBER
RITTERS SUGGESTION REGARDING ONLY ATTENDING OPENING GEREMONIES
FOR YOUTH SOFTBALL.
MAYOR SCHRADER STATED HE HAD NO PROBLEM NOT RIDING IN THE PARADE
AND WOULD SUGGEST THAT EVERYONE SHOW UP AT THE BALLFIELD FOR
INTRODUCTIQNS AND AGREED WITH COUNCILME�4BER RITTER THAT THE
PARADE IS FOR THE YOUNG PEOPLE AND COUNCIL WANTS TO SUPPORT THEM .

CITY MANAGER ADVISED COUNCIL THE TOUR OF THE SOUTH EAST WATER
PLANT HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED FOR THE 16TH OF MARCH AT 10 : 00 AM.
A LENGTHY DISCUSSION WAS HELD WITH COUNCIL , STAFF , REPRESENTATIVE
FROM HARRIS COUNTY AND A NUMBER OF CITIZENS REGARDING HARRIS
COUNTY ' S REQUEST FOR THROUGH STREETS CONNECTING TO BLACKHAWK
BOULEVARD .
