WAS HELD ON FEBRUARY 13 , 1989 AT CITY HALL AT 7 : 00 PM WITH THE '

MAYOR SCHRADER REPORTED ON HIS PARTICIPATION IN THE RECENT
AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY "JAIL & BAIL" FUND RAISER AND THANKED
THOSE THAT PARTICIPATED .
MAYOR SCHRADER REPORTED A MEETING WAS HELD SATURDAY WITH FRANK
FRANKOVICH, CLEAR CREEK DRAINAGE DISTRICT , JIM BAKER , LAND OWNER ,
CITY MANAGER ANNETTE BRAND AND HIMSELF REGARDING CLOVER ACRES
DRAINAGE AND PROGRESS IS BEING MADE ON THIS PROJECT .
MAYOR SCHRADER REPORTED ATTENDING THE TEXAS MUNICIPAL LEAGUE
LEGISLATIVE UPDATE SESSION TODAY ALONG WITH COUNCILMEMBER JORDAN
AND A REPORT WILL BE GIVEN AT A LAZ'ER TIME .
MAYOR SCHRADER PROCLAIMED FEBRUARY AS "NATIONAL CHILDRENS DENTAL
HEALTH �40NTH" AND PRESENTED A PROCLANIATION TO CARMAC TAYLOR ,
D .D . S . . DR . TAYLOR ANNOUNCED THE L�CAL AREA DENTISTS WERE
PROVIDING CAVITY SCREENINGS IN THE AREA ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS AND
WILL BE PROVIDING FREE DENTAL CHECKUPS FOR SENIOR CITIZENS .
MAYOR SCHRADER PROCLAIMED FEBRUARX AS "AMERICAN HEART MaNTH" AND
PRESENTED A PRaCLAMATION TO DARWIN MGALLISTER .
MAYOA SCHRADER INTRODUCED MR . SANDERS ALEX WHO wILL BE
SUBSTITUTING FOR POSTMASTER CHARLES FLAGG FOR THE NEXT THREE
MONTHS . MR . ALEX STATED IT IS A PLEASURE TO BE IN FRIENDSWOOD
AND IS LOOKING FORWARD TO WORKItJG WITH EVERYONF .
COUNCILMEMBER WICKLANDER REPORTED FiE ATTENDED A MEETING AT THE
DIXIE OIL PROCESSORS 5ITE TODAY ALONG WITH STEPHEN KRCHMA AND
RICSARD E . GUILLIAMS WITH MONSANTO , H . W . PLENNIG WITH MERICHEM ,
MARTIN REDING WITH ARCO , LOU BARINKA AND PAMELA PHILLIPS WITH
EPA , CHUCK MCLAUGENLIN , BRIO PROJECT MANAGER , HARRY KELSO ,
DEPARATMENT OF JUSTICE , RALPH LOWE AND LARRY LOWE , D . O . P . AND
EVERYONE IN ATTENDANCE INDICATED COOPERATION IN EXPEDITING THE
DISMANTLING PROCESS OF THE BRIO FACILITIES AND CLEAN UP AS
DESCRIBED IN THE ROD .
COUNCILMEMBER NEWMAN STAZ'ED NUMEROUS CALLS HAVE BEEN RECEIVED
REGARDING THE GRAFFITI ON THE FENCE AT CASTLEWOOD AND MERRIWOOD
AND CORRESPONDENCE HAS ALSO BEEN RECEIVED REGARDING THIS PROBLEM .
COUNCIL REQUESTED THE CITY MANAGER LOOK INTO THIS PROBLEM.
MS . JEAN MCALLUM FROM FRIENDSWOOD INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT
APPEARED BEFORE COUNCIL TO ANNOUNGE THAT JANllARY WAS DECLARED
AID ' S EDUCATION MONTH IN FRIENDSWOOD AND THAT A AIDS PROGRAM WILL
BE HELD AT THE LIBRAAY ON FEBRUARY 21ST AT 7 : 30 PM AND INVITED
EVERYONE TO ATTEND .

UPDATE ON COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS , REPORTED• ON SEWER LINE
REPLACEMENT AT COWART ' S CREEK , PARKS AND RECREATION CONTRACTS
REVIEW, REPORT ON LIBRARY LITERARY FORUM, CITY HALL RENOVATIQN
AND REPORTED ON AD FOR PROGRESS EDITION IN THE JQURNAL WITH THE
COST BEING SHARED WITH F . I .D . C . AND CHAMBER OF COI�MERCE .
COUNTY COMMISSIONER WAYNE JOHNSON THANKED MAYOR ANU COUNCIL FOR
THE RECEPTION RECENTLY HOSTED BY THE CITY AND STATED HE IS
LOOKING FQRWARD TO WORKING WITH THE CITY .
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR DUANE HENGST PRESENTED A REVISEA
PROPOSAL FOR RAISED MEDIANS AND CURB CUTS FOR THE FM 2351 ROAD
WIDENING PROJECT . A LENGTHY DISCUSSIOiJ FOLLOWED WITH COUNCIL ,
STAFF , CITIZENS AND BUSINESSES OWNERS ON FM 2351 . MAYOR SCHRADER
STATED HE FELT THE CITY SHOULD GO WITH THE STATE HIGHWAX
DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDATION FOR RAISED MEDIANS WITH THE EXTRA CUTS
AS PROPOSED BY THE COMP9UNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT .
COUNCILMEMBER WICKLANDER STATED HE FELT THE CONTIt1U0US TURNING
