MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE FRIENDSWOOD CITY - COUNCIL THAT
WAS HELD ON NOVEMBER 14 , 1988 AT CITY HALL AT 6 : 00 PM WITH THE • .,
FOLLOWING PRESENT CONSTITUTING A QUORUM:

� � ABSENT FROM THE MEETING WAS MAYOR PAUL SCHRADER .
� MAYOR PRO-TEM PRIHODA ANNOUNCED THAT MAYOR SCHRADER ' S MOTHER
� PASSED AWAY LAST THORSDAY AND THAT MAYOR SCHRADER WOULD RETURN TO
� THE CITY THIS THURSDAY AND THAT EVERYONE ' S THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS
� m WERE WITH MAYOR SCHRADER AND HIS FAMILY AT THIS TIME .
Q INVOCATION WAS GIVEN BY COUNCILMAN RON RITTER WITH A SPECIAL
PRAYER FOR MAYOR SCHRADER AND FAMILY .
� MAYOR PRO-TEM PRIHODA STATED THE ELECTION FOR COUNTY COMMISSIONER
PRECINCT THREE WAS HELD LAST WEEK AND THAT WAYNE JOHNSON RECEIVED
10 , 496 VOTES AND BOB WICKLANDER RECEIVED 1 � , 0�10 . MAYOR PRO-TEM
PRIHODA COMMENDED BOB WICKLANDER ON THE RACE HE CONDUCTED AND
STATED THAT APPROXIMATELY 25� OF THE VOTES CAST IN GALVESTON
COUNTY WERE CAST HERE IN FRIENDSWOOD WHICH IS A STRONG STATEMENT .
MAYOR PRO-TEM PRIHODA CONGRATULATED WAYNE JOHNSON ON HIS ELECTION
AS COUNTY COMMISSIONER PRECINCT THREE AND STATED THE CITY IS
LOOKING FORWARD TO WQRKING WITH HIM .
MAYOR PRO-TEM PRIHODA REPORTED THE SECOND ANNUAL PADDELING SAFARI
CANOE RACE WAS HELD SUNDAY AND WAS VERY SUCCESSFUL AND WAS
ENJOYED BY EVERYONE PARTICIPATING AND IN ATTENDANCE .
COUNCILMEMBER RIT'TER ALSO CONGRATULATED COUNCILMEMBER WICKLANDER
ON HIS RACE FOR COUNTY COMMISSIONER AND STATED THE CANOE RACE WAS
VERY SUCCESS�'UL AND THANKED VOLUNTEERS AND STAFF WHO PUT THIS
EVENT TOGETHER AND SUGGESTED MAYBE NEXT YEAR THERE COULD BE A
CATEGORY FOR OVER �40 AND OUT OF SHAPE .
COUNCILMEMBER NEWMAN ALSO CONGRATULATED COUNCILMEMBER WICKLANDER
ON HIS RACE FOR COUNTY COMMISSIONER AND STATED JON BRANSON , PARKS
AND RECREATION COORDINATOR DID AN EXCELLENT JOB ON THE CANOE RACE
AND ALSO THANKED THE OTHER VOLUNTEERS .
COUNCILMEMBER WICKLANDER EXPRESSED HIS THANKS TO THE THE PEOPLE
OF FRIENDSW�OD WHQ SHOWED THEIR SUPPORT BY VOTING FOR HIM AND THE
FACT THAT ,HE CARRIED FRIENDSWOOD BY 75� WAS VERY GRATIFYING .
COUNCILMEMBER WICKLANDER EXPRESSED SPECIAL THANKS TO
COiJNCILMEMBERS JORDAN , LEE , PRIHODA , NEWMAN AND RITTER FOR THEIR
SUPPORT DURING THIS RACE .
COUNCILMEMBER LEE EXPRESSED THE SAME SENTIMENTS IN REGARDS TO THE
COMMISSIONER RACE AND THE CANOE RACE AND ALS� THANKED THE STAFF
, FOR A JOB WELL DONE .
COUNCILMEMBER JORDAN STATED THAT LOOKING AT THE STATE WIDE
STA'TISTICS AND TAE FACT THAT COUNCILMEMBER WICKLANDER CAME SO
CLaSE IN THE RACE FOR COMMISSIONER IS VERY IMPRESSIVE .

THE MEMBERS OF THE C . H . I . C . K .E . N . CLUB WHICH IS A ANTI—DRUG , OR
REVERSE PEER PRESSURE PROGRAM, DESIGNED TO HELP CHILDREN� RESIST
THE PRESSURE TO EXPERIMENT WITH SUBSTANCE ABUSE . MR . TALBOT � �>

THANKSGIVING" AND PRESENTED THE PROCLAMATION TO REVEREND MABEL
THACKER . IT WAS ANNOUNCED THERE WOULD BE A CQMMUNITY
CELEBRATION HELD AT FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH ON THURSDAY NOVEMBER
17TH AT ? : 30 PM WITH AREA CHURCHES PARTICIPATING , MAYOR SCHRADER
GIVING THE THANKSGIVING ADDRESS WITH COMMUNITY CHURCH CHOIR ' S
PERFORMING AND EVERYQNE IS INVITED TO PARTICIPATE .
