FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
f r o m i"
BOB WICKLANDER
When I moved to Friendswood some 19 years ago , the first thing
I learned was a man in Friendswood is only as good as his word . I
have been troubled recently with the many untruths spoken about some ,,
of our long—time civic leaders .
This morning I was called by the Galveston News meaia asking for
a comment about Paul Schrader ' s endorsement of my opponent for the
' County Commissioner Precinct 3 race .
This was more than a little surprise .
Shortly after his election as Mayor of Friendswood , I met with
Mr Schrader seeking his endorsement for my campaign . After a lengthy
discussion , Paul advised me that he felt the best interests of
Friendswood could be best served by his remaining neutral and not
endorsing either candidate .
I feel that the citizens of Friendswood need to know my integrity
has been questioned and I have been lied to . If Air . Schrader will
lie to me , I wonder what other lies have been spoken or what lies will
be spoken in the future .
The endorsement of my apponent is definitely not in the best
interest of Friendswood . As a publicly professed Republican , A1r Schrader
r now is endorsing a liberal Democrat . Once again , Mr . Schrader has
shown his personal interest is more important to him than the best
interests of the citizens of Friendswood .
Be assured this will not stop me from continuing my efforts to
serve the best interests of the citizens of Friendswood and Galveston
County .
**RECEIVED AT COUNCIL MEETING OF NO MBER 7 , 1988 .
