SCHRA��ER MAYOR PRO-TEM JOE PRIHODA . ,, COUNCILMEMBER BOB WICKLANDER COUNCILMEM�ER EVELYN NEWMAN � COUNCILMEMBER PHYLLIS LEE CITY MANAGER ANNETTE BRAND CITY SECRETARY DELORIS MCKENZIE ABSENT FROM THE MEETING WERE COUNCILMEMBER RON RITTER AND COUNCILMEMBER JAN JORDAN . INVOCATION WAS GIVEN BY REVEREND RALPH HOBRATSCKH , HOPE LUTHERAN CHURCH . � MAYOR SCHRADER STATED EVERYONE IS SADDENED BY THE LOSS OF � COUNCILMEMBER RON RITTERS FATHER . MAYOR SCHRADER ANNOUNCED THE � "DISCOVERY" LANDED SAFELY AND PUT US BACK IN THE SPACE BUSINESS (� AGAIN . THE ESPLANADES ON FM 518 HAVE A SPRINKLER SYSTEM m INSTALLED AND HOPEFULLY WILL BE PLANTED WITH FLOWERS AND SHRUBS. Q A SWIMMING POOL HEATER COMMITTEE HAS BEEN FORMED TO LOOK INTO HEATING THE MUNICIPAL POOL AND WILL BE APPEARING BEFORE COUNCIL SOON TO REPORT ON THE PROGRESS . EVERYONE ENJOYED THE FIRST POLICE DEPARTMENT AWARDS BANQUET LAST WEEK WHICH WAS ENCOURAGING AND ENLIGHTENING TO SEE THE POLICE OFFICIALS RECEIVE THE RECOGNITION THEY ARE DUE FOR THEIR HARD SERVICE , AT THAT TIME POLICE CHIEF MITCH WRIGHT ANNOUNCED HIS RETIREMENT AFTER 25 YEARS OF SERVICE TO THE CITY . MAYOR SCHRADER PROCLAIMED OCTOBER 2-8 , 1988 AS "NATIONAL 4H WEEK�' AND PRESENTED THE PROCLAMATION TO MEMBERS OF �H PRESENT AT THIS � MEETING. - MAYOR SCHRADER PROCLAIMED OCTOBER 9-15 , 1988 AS "NATIONAL FIRE PREVENTION WEEK" AND PRESENTED THE PROCLAMATION TO FIRE MARSHAL VANCE RILEY . MAYOR SCHRADER PROCLAIMED OCTOBER 10-1 � , 1988 AS "NATIONAL SCHOOL LUNCH WEEK" AND PRESENTED THE PROCLAMATION TO MEMBERS OF THE FOOD . SERVICE ORGANIZATION THAT WERE PRESENT . MAYOR SCHRADER PROCLAIMED OCTOBER 3 , 19$8 AS WOMEN ' S RESOURCE AND CRISIS CENTER WEEK AND RECOGNIZING THEIR EFFORTS FOR THE PLIGHT OF BATTERED WOMEN AND THEIR FAMILIES AND PRESENTED THE PROCLAMATION TO MS . CHARLOTTE DOYLE . MAYOR SCHRADER PROCLAIMED OCTOBER 3 , 1988 AS VOTER REGISTRATION "88" WEEK AND PRESENTED THE PROCLAMATION TO CITY SECRETARY DELORIS MCKENZIE WHO PRESENTED A RECAP OF REGISTERED VOTERS IN THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD . MAYOR SCHRADER PROCLAIMED OCTOBER 8 � 1988 AS "SHRINE HOSPITAL BENEFIT DAY" . AT THIS TIME MAYOR SCHRADER PRESENTED THE "KEY TO THE CITY" TO MR . DICK DAUGIRD FOR HIS DEDICATION TO THE CITY AND HIS INVOLVEMENT IN THE M.D . TELETHON . , COUNCILMEMBER BOB WICKLANDER REMINDED EVERYONE TO BE SURE AND REGISTER TO VOTE BY OCTOBER 9 , 1988 AT MIDNIGHT IN ORDER TO VOTE IN THE NOVEMBER STH ELECTION. COUNCILMEMBER NEWMAN REPORTED THE CLOSING FOR THE SAVARD PROPERTY WHICH IS ADJACENT TO THE GITY HALL WAS HELD FRIDAY WZTH MAYOR ��O�TEM �R��R�A EXEG�T�NG ��� ���U���TS FQR T�E ���X . 468 COUNCILMEM$ER NEWMAN REPORTED A MEETING WILL BE CALLED SHORTLY OF THE HISTORY HOOK COMMITTEE AND T'HOSE THAT HAVE NOT WRITTEN Tt1EIR HISTORY SHOULD DO SO IN ORDER TO HAVE THIS INCLUDED IN THE FRIENDSWOOD HISTORY BOOK . MAYOR SCHRADER PRESENTED "AWARD OF FTNANCIAL REPORTING ACHIEVEMENT" TO MS. LYNN J . BUCHER AND STATED THE CITX IS VERY PROUD OF HER ACCOMPLISHMENTS .
