COSMONAUTS ON BEHALF OF THE ELEVEN CITIES OF THE CLEAR LAKE AND
NASA AREA WELCOMING THESE YOUNG VISITORS FROM THE SOVIET UNION AS
AMBASSADORS OF FRIENDSHIP AND PEACE.
MAYOR LOWE ANNOUNCED JACK FIELD PRESENTED A CHECK TO THE CITY IN
THE AMOUNT OF �6 ,500 TO HELP RE-LOCATE THE DOG POUND. COUNCILMAN
NEWMAN ASKED IF CONSIDERATION HAD BEEN GIVEN TO TH� INFORf�lATI01J
PROVIDED BY FRED KRCH FOR USE OF STEEL CONTAIrIERS FOR THE DOG
POUND RATHER THAN THE ROUND TANK. CO[JNCIL REQUFSTED ACTING CITY
MANAGER TO LOOK INTO THIS POSSIBTLITY.
MAYOR LOWE REPORTED THE SALES TAX REPORT INDICATED THE PAYMENT TO
THE CITY IS UP 10� AND FRIENDSWOOD HAD TEi� HIGHEST PERCENTAGE OF
REBATE IN GALVESTON COUNTY .
MAYOR LOWE REPORTED HE HAS SET UP A MEETING WITH CITY OF HOUSTON
JON VANDEN BOSCH, DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORY.S FOR TUESDAY AT 10 :00
A. M. T0 DISCIISS THE SURFACE WATER CONTRACT. COUNCILP�AN JORDAN
AND COUNCILMAN WICKLANDER STATED THEY WOULD BE AIILE TO ATTEND
THIS MEETING .

AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE A PERMANENT SURFACE WATER CONTRACT ��
WITH THE CITY OF HOUSTON SUBJECT TO FINANCING ARRANGEMENTS AND
COST FIGURES THAT HAS BEEN GIVEN TO COUNCIL IN THE PAST, '�
SECONDED BY COUNCILMAN JORDAN. MOTION APPROVED UNANIMOUSLY .
COt3NCILMAN NEWMAN REPORTED THAT THE LARY DONATION OF THE PROPERTY
ON MAGNOLIA WAS ACTUALLY 48 ' AND NOT 30 ' AS ACCEPTED BY THE CITY
AT THE LAST COONCIL MEETING . COUNCIL HAD NO OBJECTIONS TO
ACCEPTING THE ADDITIONAL 18 ' AT THIS TIME, TO BE RATIPIED AND
CONFTRMED AT THE JANUARY 5 , 1987 COUNCIL MEETING .

CITY COUNCIL BUT HAS GONE ABOVE AND �3EYOND HAVING RECEZUFD
RECOGNITION AS A CERTIFIED MUNICIPAL CLERK FROM THE INTERNATIONAL
INSTITUTE OF CITY SECRETARIES AND CLERKS ASSOCIATION, THE COUNCIL
FEELS SHE HAS DONE A SUPERB JOB FOR THE CITY AND WOULD LIKE TO
THANK HER AND PRESE[�T HER WITH A $500 .00 BONUS.

CITIZENS IN THE AIIDIENCE STATED THEIR CONCERNS REGARDING THE AR�A -
BECOMING A DUMPING GROUND AND THE LIABILITY THE CITY WOULD BF

THE COUNTY PLANNERS COME DOWN AND LOOK THE AREA aVER TO SEE IrIHAT
THE POSSIBILITIES OF DEVELOPING THIS PROPERTY WAS. PAT HALLISEY
STATED THE BEST WAY TO HANDLE THE DONATTON WAS FOR 'PHE LETZERXCH
FAMILY TO DEED THE PROPERTY OVER TO A FOUNDATION TO BE HELD IN
TRUST UNTIL SUCH TIME AS A DECISI�N WAS MADE AS TO WHAT WOULD B�
DONE WITH THE PROPERTY. MR. HALLISEY STATED HE WOULD CHEC� INTO
THE FOUNDATIQNS AVAILABLE AND ADVISE THE CITY . THF
COMMISSIONER AND THE PARK BOARD REPRESENTATIVES STATED THEY
SUPPORTED THE CONCEPT aF A COUNTY PARK IN THIS AREA /�ND 4TILL
