MR . NOEL FINDLEY , PRESIDENT OF KINGSPARK WHITEHALL CIVIC
ASSOCIATION APPEARED BEFORE COUNCIL TO DISCUSS A FIRE HYDRANT
THAT WAS FOUNA SHUT OFF DUE TO C0�ISTRUCTION ON FM 518 DURING A
FIRE AT 508 MARY ANN ON AUGUST 23 .
COUNCIL REQUESTED ACTII�G CITY MANAGER TO LOOK INTO THIS MATTER
AND REPORT BACK TO COUNCIL. COUNCILMAN WICKLANDER REQUESTED
INVESTIGATION TNTO THE IMMEDIATE FIRE HYDRANT CLOSE�' TO THE HOME
THAT BURNED AND CONFIRM THAT THE FIRE HYDRANT WAS NOT OPEN , THAT
THE NEXT CLOSET FIRE HY DR ANT HAD A P ARKED C AR IN FR ONT OF I T AND
THAT THE MARKER INDICATING LOCATION �F A FIR � HYDRANT WAS MISSING
AND THAT THE FIRE DEPARM�NT HAD TO RUN 3000 FEET OF HOSE TO GET
WATER TO THE FIRE.
JESS WILLIAMS REPORTED HE ATTENDED A MEETING IN SANTA FE THURSDAY
ON THE AD VALOREM TAX ISSUE AND REPORTED THE CITY OF SANTA FE
SENT THE SAME LETTER THAT FRIENDSWOOD DID TO THE GALVESTON COUNTY
CENTRAL APPRAISAL DISTRICT PUTTING THEM OtV NQTICE THEY WERE
KEEPING THE OPTION OPEN TO FILE A LAWSUIT. COUNCIL STATED THAT
THE CITY ATTORNEY IS PREPARING A REPORT ON THE OPTIONS AVAILABLB
TO THE CITY .
COUNCILMAN LEE STATED SHE APPRECIATED THE ATTENDANCE FROf�
FRIENDSWOOD TO THE HARRIS COQNTY MAYOR� AND COUNCIL�'IANS
ASSOCIATION MEETING LAST WEEK .
COUNCILMAN NEWMAN ANNOUNCED PARKS AND WILDLIFE HAD
REPRESENTATIVES IN TOWN TO MEET WITH LAURIE WHITEHEAD �ND CATHY
CLAMPIT ON THE BATTLESHIP TEXAS BALL TO WORK ON THE PLANNING .
TICKETS ARE AVAILABLE THRU CATHY CLAMPIT AND THE CHAMBEA OFFICE.
COUNCILMAN NEWMAN REMINDED EVERYONE THE SESQUICENTENNIAL
COMMITTEE IS WOAKING ON A FRIENDSWOOD HISTORY BOOK ANA NEED
HISTORIES OF FAMILIES AND BUSINESS TURNED IN TO BE INCLUDED IN
THTS PROJECT. ,
BOBBIE HENRY ADVISED THE CITY ATTORNEY HAS SPOKEN TO CHRIS
HARTUNG OF AALPH ANDERSON CONSULTANTS AND HAS WORKED OUT A
SCHEDULE OF FEES FOR THE EXECUTIVE RECRUITING CONTRACT WHICA WILL
BE PRESENTED TO C�UNCIL AT THE SEPTEMBER 8TH COUNCIL MEETING .
THE CITY ATTORNEY ALSO ADVISED HE HAD RECEIVED A PROPOSAL FROM
LEAGUE CITY ON THE LAND APPORTIONMENT AGRCEMFNT AND WOULD BE
WORKING WITH THE LEAGUE CITY ATTORNEY ON THIS PROJECT.

MAYOR LOWE ADVISED HE HAD INVITED G�RDON CLARKE WITH THC CORPS OP' +
ENGINEERS AND HIS WIFE TO THE BATTLESHIP TEXAS AALL AND ASKED
COUNCIL IF MAYOR KATHY WHITMIRE SHOULD BE INVITED , WITH COUNCIL �
AGREEING AN INVITATION SHOULD BE SENT.
COUNCILMAN JORDAN REPORTED ON DISCUSSION WITH STEPHEN
POHL � REPRESENTATIVE FROM CDC REGARDING ESTABLISHING BOUNDARY
LINES FOR PLACEMENT OF THE WATER TANK IN HARRIS COUNTY . THE
DONATION OF THE SITE FOR THE WATER TANK IS BASED UPON THE ,
FINALIZATION OF THESE BOUNDARY LINES BE TWEEN THE C ITY OF
FRIENDSWOOD AND THE CITY OF LEAGUE CITY AND ESTABLISHING ETJ
JURISDICTION.
SAM WATSON, DIRECTOR OF ADMI[�ISTRATIVE SERVICES RECAPPED THE
PROPOSED BUDGET AND STATED THE TWO COUNCIL COMMITTEES HAD P9ET
WITH ALL DEPARTMENTS TO REVIEW BUDGET REQUESTS. MR . WATSON
STATED THE BUDGET IS BASED ON A PROPOSED TAX RATE OF . 695 CENTS
WHICH IS BASED ON TH� PROPOSED VALUES THAT HAVE BEEN PRESENTED BY
THE TAX ASSESSOR/COLLECTOR .
