CITY ATTORNEY JOHN OLSON CITY MANAGER JIM MORGAN � CITY SECRETARY DELORIS MCIiENZIE C� THE INVOCATION WAS GIVEN BY JIM MORGAN. � , � MAYOR LOWE REPORTED A PROPO5ED JOINT MEETING WITH FRIENDSWOOD, � LEAGUE CITY AND TEXAS WA7.'ER RIGHTS COMMISSION IN AUSTIN IS � PLANNED NEXT WEEK TO DISCUSS A METHOD FOR RECYCLING WA5TE WATER. MAYOR LOWE REPORTED HE HAD SPOKEN TO JUDGE HOLBROOK REGARDING THE . JOINT FUNDING OF $50,000 FROM GALVESTON COUNTY AND CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD TO CLEAR CREEK DRAINAGE DISTRICT FOR FLOOD CONTROL WORK ON CHIGGER AND COWART CREEK AND THE JUDGE ADVI5ED MAYOR LOWE HE WOULD ATTEND THE MARCH 10 MEETING TO PRESENT THE CHECK , FROM GALVESTON COUNTY IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE CITY PRESENTING THEIR CHECK. MAYOR LOWE ANNOUNCED THAT RALPH SOMERS HAD RESIGNED FROM THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS TO THE HARRIS-GALVESTON SUBSIDENCE DISTRICT AND IF THERE WAS NO OBJECTIONS FROM COUNCIL HE PLANNED TO RECOMMEND PAUL MAAZ FOR APPOINTMENT TO THIS POSITION. COUNCIL HAD NO OBJECTIONS AND UNANIMOUSLY SUPPORTED THIS RECOMMENDATION. MAYOR LOWE REPORTED THAT COUNCILMAN WICKLANDER HAD GIV EN HZM A MAP SHOWING BOUNDARY LINES THAT LEAGUE CITY WANTED TO REARRANGE IN HARRIS COUNTY. THOSE BOUNDARY LINES PERTAIN TO THE BAY AREA BOULEVARD WHERE IT WOULD CROSS CLEAR CREEK AND LEAGUE CITY FELT THEY WOULD BE BETTER OFF IF THE BRIDGE IS ALL IN THEIR CITY. MAYOR LOWE STATED SOME CITIZENS IN FRIENDSWOOD WERE REQUESTING A WET/DRY ELECTION BE HELD AND IT APPEARS THE COUNTY ATTORNEY HAS TAKEN THE POSITION IN CONCURRENCE WITH THE ATTORNEY GENERAL THAT A WET/DRY ELECTION WOULD HAV E TO BE AN ACT OF LEGISLATURE BECAUSE THE CITY IS IN TWO COUNTIES. COUNCILMAN NEWMAN REPORTED SHE HAD MET TODAY WITH HOWARD YEAGER, COUNCILMAN JORDAN AND FIRE MARSHAL VANCE RILEY TO WORK ON A � MARQUEE TYPE SIGN FOR USE BY THE NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS IN TOWN FOR ANNOUNCEMENTS AND THIS COMMITTEE WILL HAV E A RECOMMENDATION FOR COUNCIL SHORTLY. COUNCILMAN PRIHODA REPORTED THE $20,000 RECEIV ED IN SALES TAX WAS THE RESULT OF A OUT OF STATE PAYMENT FOR SETTLEMENT QF $5,500 AND FOUR OR FIV E OTHER LARGE INCREMENTS WHICH TOTALED THE $20, 000 . DTSCUSSION � FULLUWEU THIS REQUEST WITH THE DECISION THAT THE SESQUICENTENNIAL AND 4TH OF � JULY CHAIRMAN WOULD TAKE THIS REQUEST INTO CONSIDERATION AS ' PROJECTS FOR THESE EVENTS. JOE PRESNEL APPEARED BEFORE COUNCIL TO ANNOUNCE HIS CANDIDACY FOR THE DEMOCRATIC PRIMARY FOR JUDGE OF THE 212TH DISTRICT COURT. � �� ' BILL FUSS APPEARED BEFORE COUNCIL TO DISCUSS WATER FOR WEDGEWOOD SUBDIVISION AND STATED THERE WAS NO EMERGENCY BACK UP SYSTEM AND AL50 STATED WITH THE 8" WATER LINE THE WATER PRESSURE IS V ERY LOW. COUNCIL DISCUSSED THIS ISSUE WITH MR. FUSS, CITY MANAGER • AND MALCOLM COLLINS WITH THE CONSENSUS THAT A 8" TIE AT OXNARD LANE WHICH WOULD COST APPROXIMATELY $16 , 400 WHICH WOULD TIE THE SYSTEM TOGETHER IN FOREST BEND AND WEDGEWOOD AND WOULD REGULATE THE WATER PRESSURE AND IT WAS DECIDED TO OPEN THE 8" WATER LINES CONNECTING THE TWO WELLS IN FOREST BEND AND WEDGEWOOD. CITY MANAGER REP�RTED THE CITY IS EXPERIENCING MAJOR PROBLEMS WITH THE WEST INTERCEPTOR SEWER LINE LOCATED WEST OF COWARD CREEK BRIDGE COUNCIL CONVENED IN EXECUTIVE SESSION ACCORDING TO TEXAS OPEN MEETINGS LAW 6252-17 , TEXAS V ERNONS CIVIL STATUTES (g� PERSONNEL.
