FRIENDSWOOD ANIMAL CONTROL ADVISORY COMMITTEE
April 3, 2025
THE FRIENDSWOOD ANIMAL CONTROL ADVISORY COMMITTEE MET IN A REGULAR
MEETING ON THURSDAY, APRIL 3RD, 2025, IN THE TRAINING ROOM, LOCATED IN THE
ANIMAL CONTROL BUILDING, 3000 WEST PARKWOOD DRIVE, FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS,
WITH THE FOLLOWING MEMBERS PRESENT CONSTITUTING A QUORUM:
DR. DONALD STRAN
DR. DONNA COLEMAN
CPT. DOUG LAUERSDORF
ASHLEY HUYNH
MARGARET PICKELL
1. CALL TO ORDER

Dr. Stran called the meeting to order with a quorum present at 6:00 P.M.; all members were present.
2. PUBLIC COMMENT
No one signed up to speak.
3. MINUTES
A. Consider approving the minutes of the Animal Shelter Advisory Committee meeting held on
October 22nd, 2024.
A motion was made by Committee Member Margaret Pickell and seconded by Committee Member Donna
Coleman to approve the minutes of the Animal Control Advisory Committee meeting held on October
22nd, 2024.
The vote was the following:
Ayes: Committee Member Dr. Donna Coleman, Committee Member Margaret Pickell,
Committee Member Dr. Donald Stran, Committee Member Captain Doug Lauersdorf, and Committee
Member Ashley Huynh
Nays: None.
The item passed unanimously.
4. REPORTS
A. Receive and discussed City of Friendswood Animal Control 2024 Annual Report to be presented
at City Council
B. Receive and discuss an update regarding Animal Shelter operations.
Committee Member Captain Doug Lauersdorf presented the 2024 City of Friendswood Animal Control
annual report for review and discussion prior to being presented to City Council. Highlights of the report
included but not limited to increase return to owner rates, adoption of the 4 longest stay dogs, new
volunteer program inclusion of Hope Village Seniors and Clear Creek Special Services, on/off site events,
and increased pet resource services. Committee Member Ashley Huynh updated the members on the two
new hires to the team, ACO Haylee Webb and ACO Micaela Hernandez.
5. NEXT MEETING.
A. Consider setting the date and time of the next Animal Shelter Advisory Committee meeting.
The Committee agreed to hold another meeting on June 26th, 2025.
6. ADJOURNMENT
A motion was made by Committee Member Donna Coleman and seconded by Committee Member
Margaret Pickell to adjourn the meeting.
The vote was the following:
Ayes: Committee Member Dr. Donna Coleman, Committee Member Margaret Pickell,
Committee Member Dr. Donald Stran, Committee Member Captain Doug Lauersdorf, and Committee
Member Ashley Huynh
Nays: None.
The item passed unanimously.
The meeting adjourned at 6:30 P.M.
