HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC Minutes 1982-09-16 Special 355 MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE FRIENDSWOOD CITY COUNCIL September 16 , 1982 A Special Meeting of the Friendswood City Council was called for the purpose oP holding a public hearing , jointly with the Planning & Zoning Commission to consider a request for rezoning SERA park. I Council members present were : � Mayor Ralph Lowe City Manager Jim Morgan Councilman Evelyn Newman City Secretary Bobbie Henry Councilman Loren Wood Councilman Leon Brown With a quorum present, and with Councilmen Jordan , Wicklander, �-{ and Stewart absent , the public hearing was called to order by � the Mayor and by Chairman Glen Cress of P&ZC . � Ted Bogren , representing the owners and the group who have an option to purchase the property, explained that the request is � for approximately 83 acres of land, all of which is at present i � zoned R-1. They are requesting that 27 . 509 acres be zoned R-3 where developers plan to build town houses with six units per acre , each unit containing 2 , 000 square feet , and being placed so as to preserve the trees . 15 . 294 acres they propose to rezone to C-3 which would eventually contain professional office buildings with a green belt between this area and homes in Pilgrim' s Point . Dr. Don Frantz identified the investors as himself, Al 0 ' Farrell , Kent Ballard, Ray Koffhold, and Harold Whitaker. Tom Sullivan of Pilgrim' s Point stated that he had no objection to the rezoning since the requesrt had been changed from C-1 to C-3 . Don Massey, representing the Polly Ranch Homeowners Association , spoke against. the rezoning. Tom Wright , Wallace Scroggins , Jim Ghompson , Don Stoddard, and George Young, all residents ot Pilgrim' s Point , supported the proposed plans for the property and for the rezoning. With no others wishing to speak, the hearing was closed. Council then adjourned to a short executive session. No aetion resulted from this meeting.
