MINUTES
1. CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order at 4:00 pm with the following members present:

2. PUBLIC COMMENTS
None.
3. MINUTES
A. Consider approving the minutes of the Community and Economic Development
Committee Regular Meeting, held on February 5th, 2025.
Motion to approve: Winnie
Second: Spruiell
Vote: 5/0 - Minutes Approved
4. DISCUSSION ITEMS
A. Discuss the Community and Economic Development Committee economic
development and business retention strategy.
Carol Marcantal with Friendswood Chamber of Commerce, Lynn Spencer and Jayln Judkins
with Workforce Solutions, Jim Foreman with Friends of Downtown Friendswood Association,
and Scott MacKenzie with Rotary Club of Friendswood joined the committee to go over details
for Future Works and Small Business Week.
Branson announced that City Council approved adding two new members to the Community
Development and Economic Committee (CDEC). Rhea informed the group that two
applications had been submitted for these positions. He also mentioned that during the State of
the City event to be held on March 6th, CDEC's slogans and information for Small Business
Week would be presented.
Small Business Week 2025 —Pathways throuah Prosperity - Scheduled for Mav 5-9. 2025
The committee reviewed the agenda and activities for Small Business Week. Video recordings
for Monday's event, "Thank You to the Business Community," will take place on April 2nd from
1 PM to 2 PM at City Hall.
The following speakers have been confirmed:
Session 1 - Marketing Strategies with Impact: Jess Clements from JCMM.social.
Session 2 - People Centric Development and Business Culture: Laura Seifert from Yes.,
Lauren Ambeau from Friendswood Independent School District, and Brandon Kinsey from
Kinsey Management.
Internship Program — Future Works
The committee discussed the specifics of promoting Future Works.
5. REPORTS
Aubrey gave the business report for February 2025.
