MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE FRIENDSWOOD CITY COUNCIL
November 5 , 1981
A Special Meeting of the Friendswood City Council was held at
7 : 30 p.m. on Thursday, November 5 , 1981, for the purpose of
holding a joint public hearing with the Planning & Zoning Com-
mission on a request for rezoning. Council members present were:

I Mayor Dale Whittenburg City Secretary Bobbie Henry
Councilmen: Loren Wood
Paul Schrader
Mary Brown
Bob Wicklander
With a quorum present , the joint hearing was called to order.
Maxine Eignus , who had made the request for rezoning jointly
� with Freda E. McLaughlin and Robert Blaylock, owners , explained
� that a prospective buyer wanted to build an office-warehouse
� building which would require rezoning from R-1 to C-l .

(� The property in question is located at the corner of Westfield �Gj '
ra( Road and F .M. 2351, consisting of 4 . 464 acres , 320 feet on
� F .M. 2351 and 607 . 70 feet on Westfield.
Sam Vester, joint owner of Coward Creek Subdivision across
F .M. 2351, opposed the rezoning, stating that C-1 development
there would adversely affect value of homes in his subdivision.
Joe Lockridge , Louis Mickler, Bill Russum and Van Williams,
all residents of the area, spoke against the rezoning.
� i The Chairman of P&ZC stated that the request and hearing will
; i be taken under consideration.
Mayor Whittenburg, after announcing the resignation of Bob
Wetzel from the Planning Commission and inviting all in
attendance to join in a short reception following the meeting ,
presented Mr. Wetzel with a plaque in appreciation for his
service to the City.
ADJOURNMENT - Motion made and seconded that the Council Meeting
adjourn. The meeting was adjourned at 8 : 48 .
