MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE FRIENDSWOOD CITY COUNCIL
June 8 , 1981
A special Meeting of the Friendswood City Council was held
at the City Hall on Monday , June 8 , 1981, at 7 : 30 p.m. with
� the following members present :
, I Mayor Dale Whittenburg City Manager Jim Morgan
Councilmen ; Mary Brown City Secretary Bobbie Henry
Bob Wicklander
� Ed Zeitler
Loren Wood
Paul Schrader
Todd Stewart
�� With a quorum present , and with none absent , the following
' business was transacted:

' � Mr. Morgan introduced Bill Rankin , presently a police officer,
� who will soon be serving as the City Manager' s Administrative
� Assistant.
'� Mayor Whittenburg informed Council that he has requested the
¢1 Highway Department to make a survey of the intersection of
' Winding Way and FM 528 to determine possible need for a stop
light based on the number of serious accidents which have
� oceurred recently at that location.
Councilman Wood reported that all right-of-way for the left hand
�� turn at FM 518 and FM 528 has now been acquired, and the Highway
Department feels that construction can begin in October or November.
I He also stated that straightening of the Kucerik curve on FM 528
including request for a left turn into Layfair and a turn lane
� on Greenbriar will be submitted to the District Engineer for the
i Highway Department by September 1.
Councilman Schrader asked that Council support a request to
Governor Clements to place the Clear Creek Watershed Drainage
District bill on his "water package" for the special session of
the Legislature when it is called.
Schrader and Wood both addressed the drainage problems in Whitehall,
and proposed a review of engineering studies which have been
� made of this area; also , to try to clarify responsibility areas
between the City and the Clear Creek Drainage District.
' £MERGENCY PREPAREDNESS - Russell Williams made a brief review
of the plan and said that complete copies of the plan will be
presented to Council at next week` s meeting.

MOTION: (S�ewart) To designate Paul Schrader as Mayor Pro-tem.

� PRELIMINARY BUDGET REVIEW - David Quick, Finance Officer , pre- /
, sented Council with a brief outline of budget projections for
1981-82 and requested guidelines for bringing these projections
into compliance with Council ' s thinking. There was some dis-
, cussion on the subject but no formal action was taken.
ADJOURNMENT - Motion made and seconded that the meeting adjourn.
