HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC Minutes 1981-05-21 Joint, P&Z i � � P MINUTES OF A JOINT PUBLIC HEARING OF THE FRIENDSWOOD CITY COUNCIL AND PLANNING & ZONING COMMISSION May 21, 1981 4 A Public Hearin havin been dul ,� b , g y published in accordance with , ; law, was held at the City Hall on Thursday , May 21 , 1981 at , 7 : 30 p.m, to receive public in-put on the following : 1) In Ordinance 291, Section 7 , eliminate the five uses permitted in the C-2 District and add these same five uses to be permitted in the C-1 District . 2 ) In Ordinance 323 (Signs ) Section l , 6 .n , eliminate all of No. 2 thereunder which allows the use of portable signs under certain conditions . Members of the City Council present were : Mayor Dale Whittenburg Councilman Mary Brown Councilman Loren Wood Councilman Bob Wicklander Councilman Todd Stewart City Manager Jim Morgan Councilman Paul Schrader Members of the Planning & Zoning Commission present were : Chairman Bob Wetzel Commissioner Glen Cress Commissioner Richard Atchison Commissioner Tom Haansz , .._ �ommissioner Charlie Beggs Commissioncr Billy Glines � Absent were Councilman Ed Zeitler and Commissioner Leon Brown. � City Secretary Bobbie Henry served as secretary for the hearing. The hearing was called to order, with the proposal on portable signs being heard first . Some fifteen citizens addressed the subject with additional comments from members of the Council and Commission. One person spoke in favor of portable signs ; three people were in favor of eliminating portable signs from the ordinance but felt that the ordinance as a whole is working well. The general consensus of the balance of the speakers seemed to be that if it is determined that this portion of the ordinance can be enforced, let it remain as is . The second subject , change t;o district regulations in the Zoning Ordinance , was then addressed. The one person wishing to speak said he had no objection to changing the First three uses from C-2 to C-1. He was informed that only these three were under consideration ; the public notice was in error in indicating the number as five. With no others wishing to speak, the public hearing was adjourned. � The Planning & Zoning Commission then convened to their regular '' � meeting. Bobb��Hen� Secretary APPROVED: __T'E' --__,__'-
