HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC Minutes 1981-01-15 Public Hearing 102 � MINUTES OF A PUBLIC H£ARING HELD JOINTLY WITH P&ZC I January 15 , 1981 A joint public hearing was held at 8 : 00 p.m. on �hursday , ' January 15 , 1981 by the City Council and the Planning and � Zoning Commission to consider rezoning of two separate parcels of land. � Council members present were : Mayor Dale Whittenburg Councilmen : Loren Wood Paul Maaz Mary Brown Ed Zeitler Paul Schrader With a quorum present , and with Councilwoman Black absent , the hearing p�oceeded as follows : REZONING OF LOT 2 , BLOCK l , FRIENDSWOOD SUBDIVISION FROM R-1 TO SPECIFIC USE (RETIREMENT HOME) Mr. Dave 0' Brian of 103 Garden Drive was opposed , stating that he does not believe that a project of this nature would be , maintained properly and would be a detriment to the city. Council and Commissioners questioned the number of units (25 ) , ' whether the project could in the future be converted to an apartment complex, and whether there is really a need locally for such a facility for retired people. REZONING PART OF LOT 12 , BLOCK 2 , FRIENDSWOOD SUBDIVISION, I FROM R-2 to R-4 The reason for this request was explained - that the owner wishes to build a duplex with a separate owner for each of the dwelling units - a technical matter. Mr. William Whipkey and Mr. Ken Camp questioned the advisability of approval . Chairman for the Planning Commission stated that both applica- tions would be taken under advisement at a later date, and the decision would be referred to Council for final action.
