Gordon Alvin, Texas 77511 P. O. Box 1388 713/331-4407-8 4 August 1980 Mr. James C. Morgan, City Manager City of Friendswood 109 Willowick Friendswood, Texas 77546 Dear Sir: This letter is per your request pertaining to sanitary sewer service laterals tieing into manholes. We use drop manholes in main lines when the difference in elevation is greater than 2 feet. This is where the main flow is encountered and not service laterals. Service ` ' laterals carry small flows by comparison. Therefor, it is common, accepted engineering practice to tie service laterals into manholes without a drop structure. We have done this, and seen others do the same, for many years with no problems encountered. Very truly yours, COENCO, Inc. Consulting Engineers 7'Yl n Ow+ Q lJ-a-'nflC ialcolm A.
