MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE FRIENDSWOOD CITY COUNCIL
March 24 , 1980
A Special Meeting of the Friendswood City Council was held at
the City Hall on Monday , March 24 , 1980 , at 7 : 00 p .m. with
i the following members present :
Mayor Ralph Lowe City Secretary Bobbie Henry
Councilman Paul Maaz City Manager Jim Morgan
Councilman Ed Zeitler
Councilman Vickie Black
Councilman Tbm Lay
Mayor Pro-tem Loren Wood
With a quorum present , and with none absent , the following
business was transacted :

',�,' Mayor Lowe announced that he would be leaving the meeting
� shortly to attend a Mayor' s meeting in Nassau Bay , and at that
p time Mayor Pro=tem Wood would take the chair.
'� AWARD BID ON CARPET FOR LIBRARY

MOTION: (Maaz) To accept the recommendation of the City
Manager and award the bid to Decorative Carpets , Inc.
on their low bid of $12 , 852 , deleting the pad and
using the glue-down method of installation. /�D
Second: Black
Vote : Unanimous FOR MOTION CARRIED
APPOINTMENTS TO STREET AND BRIDGE COMMITTEE
_._ MOTION: (Wood) To appoint the following to the Street and
Bridge Committee : Lee Niehols , Larry Bell , Randall
Dorsett, Glen Box, Mark Hopkins , John Lewis , Joe
Crutcher, Charles Baumgardner , Bill Kelly , Bob Phillips , t4^
and Charles Talbot. ��

Vote : Unanimous FOR MOTION CARRIED
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Wednesday night will be candidates night at the High School.
Thursday night Council will meet jointly with Planning Commission
for a public hearing on rezoning for the Miracle Mile Development.
PRESENTATION BY CLEAR CREEK DRAINAGE DISTRICT - Lee Nichols and
Ed Schumilak of the Drainage District presented a proposed plan
to reduce storm £lood water levels along Clear Creek by making
several cuts or by-passes , one of which goes through 1776 Park.
Council members indicated they would like to survey the planned
project through the city' s park, and it was indicated that the
Parks Director Phyllis Lee should accompany them on this field
trip,
EMER�ENCY OPERATIONS PLAN - Ken Camp , Civil Defense Director,
reviewed the Plan and requested that an ordinance be passed adopt-
, ing same.
