HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC Minutes 1980-01-07 Regular 38� MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF THE FRIENDSWOOD CITY COUNCIL January 7 , 1980 A Regular meeting of the Friendswood City Council was held at the City Hall on Monday, January 7 , 1980 , beginning at 5 : 00 p .m. due to a flood meeting being sponsored at the High School at 7 : 00 p.m. by Representative Lloyd Criss which Council planned to attend. Members present were : Mayor Ralph Lowe City Manager Jim Morgan Councilwoman Vickie Black City Secretary Bobbie Henry Councilman Loren Wood City Attorney Wm. Olson Councilman Paul Maaz Councilman Dale Whittenburg Councilman Ed Zeitler With a quorum present , and with Councilman Lay absent , the follow- � ing business was transacted: �' INVOCATION - Reverend Bi11 Sterling � �� READING AND APPROVAL OF MINUTES - Minutes of a regular meeting � of December 17 , 1979 , approved as corrected. '� PETITIONS - Mr. James M. Reese who has a 2� acre portion of an undivided parcel of land at the intersection of Murphy and Sunset , asked for approval to secure a building permit on his lot . With all facilities available, this would fall under a recent amendment to the Subdivision Ordinance. MOTZON: (Whittenburg) To refer Mr. Reese to the Planning Commission, with the information that Council would have //� no objection to one single family dwelling on the lot. l ; Second: Maaz - . Vote : Unanimous FOR MOTION CARRIED CITY PLANNING GROUP FOR FLOOD PLAN MOTION: (Wood) To invite the Drainage Board to discuss with Council a joint plan for steps to be taken in formulating a working criteria Por flood control, at the January 14 meeting of the City Council. Second : Black ��O Vote : Unanimous FOR MOTION CARRIED PEARLAND/FRIENDSWOOD AGREEMENT re utilities in Longwood Park MOTION; (Maaz) To approve the agreement as written. Second : Whittenburg ,�/� Vote : Unanimous FOR MOTION CARRIED ��� ,b TAX COMMITTEE - Mayor Lowe stated that in view of certain changes in tax laws and practices , it would be in order for a committee to look into the school/city joint tax situation to determine if any changes should be made . He mentioned that possibly in the near future the city could use the recently acquired computer to take care of part of the work. He suggested a committee made up of two council members , two sehool board members , one citizen selected by each of the two entities , and one other citizen selected by these four, with Alta Carbone and Bill Thompson acting as consultants . MOTION: (Maaz ) To convey this proposal to the School Board.
