HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC Minutes 1979-07-30 Special, Emergency �29 MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE FRIENDSWOOD CITY COUNCIL July 30 , 1979 On Monday , July 30 , 1979 , the Friendswood City Council met in a Special Emergency Meeting at 7 : 30 p.m. at the High School Auditorium. Members of the Council present were : Mayor Ra1ph Lowe Councilman Loren Wood Councilman Vickie Black Councilman Paul Maaz Councilman Tom Lay City Manager Jim Morgan City Secretary Bobbie Henry Councilman Zeirtler and Whittenburg were absent . Approximately (� 1100 citizens were present. � Mayor Lowe explained that the purpose of the meeting was to explore ways in which victims of the July 24-25 flood could � best be helped to recover losses and regain normalcy. He � voiced appreciation to the Chief of Police, Civil Defense ,�( Director, and others who were active during the disaster. Representatives from various state and federal agencies were introduced and they each, in turn , explained procedures to be followed in utilizing their particular agency ' s services for flood disaster purposes . These included the County Health Officer, County Judge , £ederal Disaster Relief Agency, Small Business Administration , National Flood Insurance Administra- tion, and a special representative from Governor Clements . All questions from the audience were answered by the appropriate representative. No formal action was taken by the Council , and the meeting was adjourned.
