HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC Minutes 1978-02-13 Special 9�' MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETIN� OF THE FRIENDSWOOD CITY COUNCIL February 13 , 1978 A Special Meeting of the Friendswood City Council was held a-t the City Hall on Monday , February 13 , 1978 , at 7 : 30 p.m. with the following members present : � Mayor Pro-tem Paul Maaz City Manager Jim Morgan Councilman Loren Wood City Secretary Bobbie Henry Councilman Tom Lay Councilman Richard Haken Councilman Ed Zeitler Councilman R. J . Blanken With a quorum present , and with Mayor Lowe absent (being in attendance at a meeting of Galveston County Mayors to appoint � a representative to the Subsidence District Board) , the fol- � lowing business was transacted: � PETITION - Ed Stuart , representing the County Planning Commis- (] sion, invited the, Council to present recommendations for pro- � jects for consideration by the Commission within the next two � weeks . AWARDING OF BIDS ON COWARD CREEK SEWER LINE - Mr. Morgan recom- �(o-� � mended that the contract be awarded to David Wight Construction Company on the basis of their overall low bid. MOTION: (Blanken) To award the bid to David Wight Construc- 3�� tion on receipt of a cashier ' s check from the developer � of Coward' s Creek Subdivisions in the amount of $10 , 646 . Second : Haken Vote : Unanimous FOR MOTION CARRIED AWARD OF BIDS ON TRAFFIC SIGNS - Mr. Morgan recommended that the i��- � � contract for the signs be awarded to the Texas Department of Corrections on their low bid of $3 , 355 ; that the bid on 12" pipe for $1 , 888 . 10 and clamps for $382 . 40 be awarded to R & I Pipe & Supply. MOTION: (Blanken) On the basis of the City Manager' s recom- _?„ mendation , to award the bids to TDC and R&I Pipe . �b,� Second: Haken r�� Vote: Unanimous FOR MOTION CARRZED � OFFICIAL NEWSPAPER - A letter from the NEWS states that their ���-7�� present rate of 6 . 5 cents a word and $2 . 77 per column inch for display ads would continue for another year. Mrs . Moore of the JOURNAL quoted their rate as 7 cents per word . A decision on this was deferred until the next meeting . SEWER RATES TO WC&ID 108 - After some discussion regarding in- tent of the contract and maintenance of lines : '���7� MOTION: (Blanken) To set the water rate for WC&ID the same as that charged inside the city. �` � Second: Wood Vote : Unanimous FOR MOTION CARRIED COMMITTEE APPOINTMENTS . So 7� MOTION: (Wood) To appoint Sandy Anderson as PTO respre�n- tative on the Hike/Bike Trails/Sidewalk Committee . �� / Second: Haken ��c� Vote : Unanimous FOR MOTION CARRIED 98 �I'7 � CALLIN� PUBLIC HEARING FOR REZONING FOR OIL WELL FOR CROWN ���n� MOTION: (Haken) To call a public hearing for March 6 to � consider rezoning a parcel of land from R-1 to Specific Use - Oil Well . Second: Zeitler , Vote : Unanimous FOR MOTION CARRIED ADJOURNMENT - Having handled all items posted for a Special Meeting , motion was made and seconded that the meeting adjourn.
