Home My WebLink AboutCC Minutes 1977-11-14 Special sJ MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE FRIENDSWOOD CITY COUNCIL November 14 , 1977 A Special Meeting of the Friendswood City Couneil was held at the City Hall on Monday , November 14 , 1977 , at 7 : 30 p .m. with the following members present : Mayor Ralph Lowe Jim Morgan, Manager Councilman Paul Maaz Bobbie Henry, Secretary Councilman R. J. Blanken Councilman Tom Lay Councilman Richard Haken Councilman Ed Zeitler With a quorum present, and with none absent , the following business was transacted : � 'Cf' ANNOUNCEMENT FROM THE MAYOR - Word has been received that the � bids on the Highway Department ' s portion of Whispering Pines � were considerably higher than had been anticipated; however no � indication has been made that this will keep the project from proceeding. � CANVASSING THE SPECIAL CITY OFFICIAL ELECTION OF NOVEMBER 8 - A Resolution #77-10 was read setting forth the results of the election as follows : CANDIDATE NUMBER OF VOTES RECEIVED °�9� _ �7 P. J. Mize 2�2 Loren E . Wood 710 Norman Fry 1 (write-in) MOTION: /Toaaen pp�ove and adopt Resolution #77-10 declaring the results of the election of November 8 , and deelaring Loren E . Wood as the new Councilman Position #5 . Second: Maaz Vote : Unanimous FOR MOTION CARRIED Mr. Wood was then administered the Oath of Office and took his seat at the Council table . DEPOSITORY FOR STREET BOND SECURITIES - Resolution #77-11 makes application to the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas for holding these securities . a y3 - 77 MOTION : (Maaz) To adopt Resolution #77-11 . Second : Blanken Vote : Unanimous FOR MOTION CARRIED FROM THE CITY MANAGER oz 9 �- �7 l. Mr. Morgan presented four alternatives for additional city office space #II being 650-700 sq . ft . at 300 mo, with bills paid, available Dec . l . MOTION : (Lay) To approve the #II proposal. Second: Haken Vote : FOR ( 6 ) Lay , Haken , Maaz , Lowe , �Wood, Blanken AGAINST (1) Zeitler MOTION CARRIED 2 . Radios from HGAC as needed for city equi,pment will run a 95- 77 854 over the budgeted amount . Councilman Lay is to check on prices and make recommendation back to the Council next week. 66 (,2y� " �� 3 . City Manager presented the following list of proposed holidays for this fiscal year , and requested Council approval : Thanksgiving - November 24 & 25 Christmas - December 26 New Years - January 2 Memorial Day - May 30 Independence Day - July 4 Labor Day - September 4 Council suggested that one more day be declared a holiday, this day to be determined later (possibly Good Friday) . MOTION: (Blanken) To approve the City Manager' s pro- posal regarding holidays with one more to be added. C�f� Second; Maaz Vote : FOR (� ) Lowe , Lay , Blanken, Maaz , Wood , Haken �' Zeitler MOTION CARRIED �9�_77 SEWER RATES INCREASE FOR WC&ID 108 - Council will meet with representatives of 108 to discuss the question at workshop meeting on November 28 .
