HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC Minutes 1976-11-29 Special � � � MINUTES OF A SPECIAL ME�TING OF THE FRIENDSWOOD CITY COUNCIL November 29 , 1976 A Special Meeting of the Friendswood City Council was held at , the City Hall at 7 : 30 p .m. on Monday, November 29 , 1976 , with the following members present : i �, Mayor Pro-tem Ed Z�itler _., Councilman Tom Lay Councilman Richard Haken Councilman William Patton Councilman Paul Maaz With a quorum present, and with Mayor Ralph Lowe and Councilman Benny Balcer absent, the following business was transacted: INDUSTRIAL DISTRICT AGREEMENT - Exxon representative reported c�0 4'7� � that they were prepared to present the City with Exxon' s check 'd"� along with payment� from more than 980 of the other property �° owners. in the proposed indus-�rial district, on official action � and execution of the contract documents by the Council. � � � � Resolution #76-13 : A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS , DESIGNATING A PORTION OF SUCH CTTY' S EXTRATERRITORIAL JURISDICTION AS AN INDUSTRIAL DISTRICT. MOTION: (Patton) To adopt Resolution #76-13 . Second: Haken Vote : POR (4) Patton, Haken, Lay, Maaz , ' AGAINST (1) Zeitler MOTION CARRIED _ Resolution #76-14 : A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS , AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE AN INDUSTRIAL DISTRICT AGREEMENT BY AND BETWEEN THE CITY AND EXXON CORPORATION ET AL. MOTION: (Patton) To adopt Resolution #76-14 . Second: Haken Vote : FOR (4) Patton, Haken, Lay, Maaz AGAINST (1) Zeitler MOTION CARRIED The Agreement for Friendswood Industrial District No . 1 was then signed by the Mayor Pro-tem, attested by the City Secretary, executed copies presented to Mr. Caulkins of Exxon. In return the City was presented 43 checks totaling $271,493 . 16 . Agreements between the City and Gail Whitcolm and Mortgage � Trust are to be considered at the Regular Meeting December 6 . PARKS � RECREATION - Chairman Blanken requested that Council o? l� /�- 7� consider inclusion of $250 ,000 for additional park land and a municipal swimming pool in the bond issue now under consideration. SURFACE WATER - Councilman Patton requested that the City Manager investigate the cost and time involved in a feasibility study ����,,� , � of surface water from Houston and the Brazos River which would supply future needs for the City proper and for the industrial districts.
