Lowe Councilman Benny 8.aker Councilman William Patton Councilman Richard Haken Councilman Tom Lay Councilman Paul Maaz Councilman Edward Zeitler � � With a quorum present, and with no.ne ab.sent, the following � business was transacted: � � BIbS ON PI�CK-UP TRUCKS - Mr. Morgan reported that no blds were /��Q�7� � received . He was advised that if the City Attorney concurs , � he is to proceed to "shop" for the best price for the. vehicles and make the purchase based on quoted prices . OFFICIAL NEWSPAPER - Mr. Morgan reported that the Journal management has stated that they did not wish to. en.ter a bid ��9- 7� for. official newspaper for the city, leaving only the News to be considered. MOTION: (Zeitler) To accept the recominendation of the `! ' City Manager and award the contract to the ;4 Friendswood News . � Second: Baker Vote: Unanimous FOR MOTION CARRIED STEVENSON P:ARK I�EVELOPMENT PLAN - A plan was presented by the sp - �(� Parks Committee for conszderation by the C.ouncil . No actiori � was taken. PUBLIC HEARING ON REVENUE SHLARING FUNDS BUDGET - Mr. Morgan explalned that 21, 522 was pro�ec�ed to January, at which �`�,J��° time no assurance has been given that the program will continue. Bruce Goss , Chairman of the Library Board, reques.ted that $3615 . 55 be allocated for the library taith: $2500 to pay an architect to draw up plans for an addition to the library and the balance for new books . MOTION: (Haken) To approve the request of the library and to desig.nate $500 to th.e Bicentennial Committee, with the balance of funds going to the street program. Second: Zeitler MOTION: (Baker) To table until other input can be i received at a continuance of the meeting on � September 13th. �--- Second: Lay Vote: Unanimous FOR MOTION CARRIED NTOTION: (Lay) To recess the public hearing until September 13th when the Council will accept additional in-put. Blount We1l No . l, T.C . Edwards Well No . 5 , and Peter McDonald well No . 5 . Ins.pector Raney has recommended that these permits be approved. MOTION: (Lay) To approve issuance for permits to work over these wells . Second: Baker Vote: Unan,imous FOR MOTION CARRTED I ORDINANCE �:0 . 257-E - Limiting use of water during shortage , ; 15�-��° , AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF FRIENDSW�OD DECLARING THAT A WATER SHORTAGE EXISTS; DESIGNATING CERTAIN ALTERNATING DAYS FOR WATERING LAWNS AND GARDENS; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY; AND PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY. MOTION: (Patton) To pass Ord . #257-E on one ' reading as an emergency ordinance. Second: Zeitler Vote: Unanimous FOR MOTION CARRIED �y���� APPROVAL OF CHECK FOR HIKE 'N BIKE TRAIL FUND MOTION: (Maaz) To approve G�A Check #2412 in the amound of $2 ,000 as the City' s Contribution to the bike trails . Second: Zeitler Vote: Unanimous FOR MOTIC�N CARRIED ��.�-Y.7� FTRE PROTECTION FEES - Councilman Baker stated that he would like the record to reflect that in keeping with the proposed � budget , the citizens of Friendswood next year will be paying $1 . 50 per hou�ehold for fire protection while Wedgewood residents will be paying $1. 00 per household. He feels that Wedgewood � should be notified and the rate raised to that of the City. i ADJOURNMENT - Motion made and seconded that tfie meeting ad�ourn.
