HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC Minutes 1972-05-11 Special MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE FRIENDSWOOD CITY COUNCIL May 11 , 1972 A Special Meeting of the Friendswood City Council was called to order { at 12:10 A.M. on May 12, 1972, with the following members of the Council ` present: Mayor Ralph Lowe Councilman Edward Zeitler Councilman William Patton Councilman Richard Haken Councilman Ralph Gonzalez Councilman Milton Windler Councilman Benny Baker With a quorum present, and none absent, the following business was transacted: 1 . Resolution or letter to House and Senate Appropriations Committees asking for funds for advanced design and engineering -on--the--'Clear Creek Flood Control Project. MOTION: (Patton) That the Mayor be authorized to write a letter or resolution requesting funds for flood control on Clear Creek, Second: Gonzalez Vote: FOR (7) Lowe, Zeitler, Patton, Haken, Gonzalez, Windler, Baker AGAINST: none Motion carried 2, , Expenses for Representative from Friendswood to accompany delegation To Washington, D.C. to request flood control funds. Councilman Gonzalez will represent Friendswood\if his schedule permits. MOTION: (Baker) That Council appropriate necessary funds up to $300.00 for travel and expenses as required to send a representative from Friendswood to appear before the Appropriations Committees on Monday. Second: Windler Vote: FOR (7) Lowe, Zeitler, Patton, Haken, Gonzalez, Windler, Baker AGAINST: none Motion carried 3. Resolution to Commissioner's Court regarding movin utilities on FM 518yt =7� MOTION: (Patton) That the City adopt a resolution requesting the Commissioner's Court to pay all expenses for moving utility lines for widening of FM 518 from bond issue funds. Second: Windler Vote: FOR (7) Lowe, Zeitler, Patton, Haken, Gonzalez, Windler, Baker AGAINST: none Motion carried 4. Request from Fire De,",artment - On May 28, the Fire Department will hold a ab rbque at the City Park. They asked permission from Council to serve a 25� "donation" beer with the dinner, Council consensus was that this should not be permitted, ADJOURNMENT - Motion made and seconded that the meeting adjourn.
