Also in attendance were City Secretary Bobbie Henry, Mrs. Leah North, Mr. Don Carpenter of the Friendswood News, and Mr. Dickie Arndt. Mr. Mager stated the purpose of the meeting and asked if anyone present wished to speak to the subject. Mrs: North stated that she would like to point out several points on which t - she felt the annexation of the high school is improper or undesirable: CCt 1 . As a question of ethics, it seems improper to jump over a large area of land unannexed and pick up the school property. 2. This annexation does not follow an orderly plan. 3. With due respect to the City Attorney, she questioned the legality of the annexation. . 4. Annexation of this particular area was not recommended by the Planning Commission, although this is one of the required functions of the Planning Commission. 5. As soon as this area is annexed, many people will expect the police to protect the school from vandalism. In considering annexation, this would be an additional expense to the City. The Mayor Pro-tem stated that recommendation -for annexing the school had been received from the Planning Commission on January 13, 1972. No others being present who wished to speak on the subject, the meeting was adjourned. c jTM APPROVED: Bobbie Henry, City Secret y J es E Mager, May r o-tem
