No action was taken. DEPARTMENTAL REPORTS ; _ 1 . Water & Sewer: Supt. Toon said .that a line-flushing prog1ram is in operation and hopefully will give. some relief on "rusty" .water. Royal Court was discussed and decision made to put a plug in the loop line so that this line can be effectively drained. No other departmenta1 �r.eports were given. ,. COUNCIL REPORTS , ,, . 1 : Councilman Gonzalez announced "Fire Appreciation Week" and acknowledged t e wor being one by the Fire Department. '2. Counci'lman Lowe: (1�) On the .Charter,� he stated that he reserved the right to change his mind on supporting the Charter; he has learned that schooling is available for City Managers. (2) He has ,. �M1O�� "__-.-.-.. _��____ ._____-__ _.. _ _ -�-_____ arranged for a demonstration of a German-made garbage.truck and paper garbag� bags on October 14 at Workshop. (3) Repor.ted on meeting with Judge Holbrook regarding financing_of moving utility lines fo.r wi.dening of FM 518A that most. of ,this can be paid for by �the bond money;, also that: the Highway Department needs. a 1etter stating that "the Gity will maintain the raised median which .has been requested. Ninety days -after. receipt of this. letter, a public hearing will be held in the City by the Highway Department on the subject,. � 3, Councilman Patton explained the argan�zation "TIPS" and requested the support of citizens in its effort to control drug distribution, ' 4, Councilman Ma er� who met with L. Be Cline and Pearland people last week �o formulate :a new contract covering exchange of .services in Longwood Park, stated that the agreement had been typed erroneously� is being re-done, and wil.l be brought in for Council action at next Council Meeting. NEW BUSINESS . ,�� 1 , Annual Audit: Mayor Stuart recommended that Mrs. Heloise Cantor be engaged to perform the City's annual audit again this year, consider- ing that she has done an .excellent job for the City in the past. (7) Mager SPECIAL SUBJECTS Councilman Gonzalez commented .on rumors and a recent news item regarding `- �, the possibility of League City's attempt to annex the Polly Ranch area which lies within the extraterritorial jurisdiction of Friendswood. He stated that passage of the proposed Charter would enable the City of Friendswood to annex ar.eas such as this to avoid other c9ties ' crowding in on this city's boundaries.
