Present were: Mayor Edward F Councilmen: Stuart Thomas Woods Ronald Hamil George Prude James Mager Ralph Gonzalez With all members present constituting a quorum, and with none absent, the following business was transacted: READING & ApPROVAL OF THE MINUTES Minutes of the Regular Meeting of August 3, approved as corrected: PETITIONS: Strike " . . . and will be taken under consideration by the COU11C11 . " CLOSED SESSION: Change: "$2,050" to read $2,250. ANNOUNCEMENTS AND COMMUNICATIONS FROM TF�E MAYOR 1 . Letter thanking the City for participation in the Summer Rec Program. 2. PETITIONS & COMMUNICATIONS 1 . Mr. Ralph Somers presented additional names ta be attached to a petition presented previously to Council regarding replacement of Mr. William Patton as Municipal Court Judge. (irz,,.,.;,�;,�+.�-�$�, 2. Mrs. David McGraw questioned work stoppage by the County on the Clear Creek drainage project at Shell Park for "higher priority problems in Friendswood. " Commissioner Jack Lawrence is to be contacted on this question. 3. Mrs. McGraw also called to Council 's attention the poor condition of the Devil 's Dip roadway. DEPARTMENTAL REPORTS l , Finance: Councilman f�ager noted several corrections to the latest copy of the proposed budget. 2. Ut�lities: The new sewer plant w�ll be in operation later this week, 3. Streets : The street program is now in full swing, with limestone being hauled in now. The question of limestone paths on Sunset Urive was brought up, but the Council feels that this is the responsibility of the County or the 5chool District. 4. Health & Safe�: Councilman Prude reported that negotiations are going forward on the new garbage contract, and he is working on revisions to the Garbage Ordinance. He is to meet Wednesday with school repre- sentatives and the contractor. 5. Fire & Police: Councilman Gonzalez reports that a letter from the Fire Uepartment regarding mode of operation will be presented to the City Council soon. The subject of policing the new high school was to have been considered but was postponed due to the absence of Chief Wright.
