Somers Councilmen: Edward Stuart James Mager Ronald Hamil Thomas Woods A Special Meeting was called to discuss and take action on the acquisition of the landsite which has been desiginated as the location for the 500,000 gallon qround storage tank for water supply to the City of Friendswood. The landsite in question is presently owned by Mr. R.B. "Buck" Hausman. It' s leqal description is as follows: Approximately 24,879.71 square feet out of Reserve "A" of Annalea-Whitehall , Section "B" , subdivision tract facing west with 100 feet of frontage on Stoneledge Drive, Gal- veston County, Texas The City had previously had the landsite appraised by James L. Julian III , a MAI Appraiser. The appraised value was $5,000. An offer of $5,000 was rendered to Mr. Hausman for the property. This offer was refused. The City then went into condemnation proceedings. Commissioners were appoin- ted by County Judge Holbrook to hear the case. They were: Mr. Bill McAninch of Friendswood Mr. Truman Taylor of Friendswood Mr. Ray Williams of League City The Commissioners met on November 13, 1969. A judgement was rendered by the Commissioners assigning a value of $7 ,000 for the property. (As a matter of interest, the Appraiser retained by Mr. Hausman estimated the property to be worth $9,500. ) The City Council was advised of the foregoing by the Mayor. The Mayor recommended the Council accept the Commissioners judgement and offer to purchase the landsite for $7,000. After some discussion a motion was made by Councilman Mager and seconded by Councilman Stuart that the City offer to purchase the landsite for $7,000. The motion carried , with Councilmen Stuart, Woods, and Mager voting yea and Councilman Hamil �:?1 voting nay. Councilman Hamil was of the opinion that the City should appeal the case to County Court. Councilman Mager moved adjournment, seconded by Councilman Stuart. Motion carried and the meeting adjourned.
