1. Clear Creek Drainage - Letter from Judge Holbrool.c to Judge Bill Elliotx calling
attention ta the fact that this is a two-County pro�ect, that �alveston County is
moving along with their portion of the work, and aetcing for a starting date from
Harris County on this work.
The l�iayor stated that as soon as he had the go-ahead fxom the Drainage Board, he
would write a letter to Judge Zialbrook to this effect.

Councilman Prude made a motion that the ardinance be adapted on first readin� on
an emergency basis, seconded by Councilman Mager, and carried unauimously.
Councilman Prude was directed by Couneil to write a follow-up letter to the
Highway Department calling attention to other request� which have been made by
the City regaxdi.ng speed limits, aigns, and signals on th� SCate Highways through
Friendswood.
3. Conference on Urban & Community Affairs in Aust�n on September 7-9.
4. Water & Sewer Contracts - Four af the contraGts have been signed and work orders
issued to the Contractors. The West Interceptor l.ine conCracC has not been signed;
it is bei.n� reviewed by the TWQB because of the way the ad�usted bid was written.
5. Glear Lake Pollution Contrpl (Cl.ear Creek Basin Authority) - Board Order No. 69-9
has been adapGed by the TW(2$f the Order bein� concerned with discharge of wastes
3nto the Clear Creek Watershed.
6. Park Land 2•Iaintenance - Water & Sewer DepartmenC and the Street D�partment wi].l

on statementi for the sale of $700,000 bond issue services.
OLD BUSINESS
Barton Disposal Service - Mr. Berton agpeared before Cr�uncil in connection with his
requeste for (1) �5� rate increase (2) tive hoiidaqs a year (3) no back-door pick�up
(4) bill.ing and collectlon by the Citq.
C�ouncilman Woods made the motion: That on SepLember 1 the City of Friendswood initiate
a aew e�a in garbage collection - rhat all residen�ial garbage collect�an shal2 be
mandatary; sha11 be curb-aide; shaZl be paid for at a rate of $3.q0 pex month to be
paid in connection wlth the City water bills on alternate months, and that the City
Ordinance No. 61 shall be amended ta reflect this motion.
The motion was seconded by Councllman Prudei and carried unanimous].y, w1tl� the under-
standing that the necessary detaila would be resolved at the next Council workshop.
