MINUTES OF SPECIAL MEETING-OF CITY COUNCIL APRIL� 14, 1969
A special meeting of the Friendswood City Council was ca1led on April 14s
1969 in the City Hall with the following members present:
Ralph W. Somers Mayor
Edward F. Stuart Councilman
James E. Mager Councilman !
�Ronald G. Hamil Councilman
George F. Prude Councilman
With a quorum present, the following business was transacted:
CANVASSING RESULTS OF ELEC7ION OF APRIL 5y 1969
Results of the City Election of April 5 were presented in the form of an
Order Declaring Results of City Election containing poll count. Councilman
Mager made a motion that the results be officially accepted; Councilman
Prude seconded the motion, and it carried unanimously. Count was:
Thomas F. Woods 246
George F. Prude, Jr. 257
Edward F. Stuart 210
D. G. Romeike 72
Mrs. George B. Cunningham 152
Michael R. Wash (Write in) . � � 5�
George Prude and Edward Stuart were sworn into office by Mayor Ralph Somers.
LIBRARY REQUEST FOR BIDS
Councilman Hamil made the following motion:
"That the City Counci1 approve plans and specifications for the construc-
tion of the library as presented with corrections as outlined at the
meeting on Thursday, April 10, and that Council authorize the architect
to advertise for construction bids to be received on or before 8:00 p.m.
,,
May 8, 1969, at the Gity Hall in Friendswood."
The motion was seconded by Councilman Mager� and carried unanimously.
WARRANTS
�, Councilman Prude made a motion that General Fund Warrant #2933, in amount of
, $1600, payable to Walsh Construction, be approved subject to approval by the
� '' Drainage District. Councilman Mager seconded the motion, and it carried
unanimously.
CIVIL DEFENSE MATERIAL PURCHASE
Civil Defense Director Harry Hatcher requested approval from Counci1 to pur-
�.� chase four generators, 4 cycle, 14-1j2 hp, at a total price of $392.00 frvm
Civil Defense funds. The purchase was approved by Council .
ADJOURNMENT
Councilman Mager made a motion for adjournment, Councilman Hamil seconded,
and the motion carried. The meeting was adjourned.
