MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL JULY 29, 1968
A special meeting of the Friendswood City Council was held July 29, 1968
during the ,regularly scheduled workshop meeting in the City with the
following members present:
Ralph W. Somers Mayor
Thomas F. Woods Councilman
Ronald G. Hamil Councilman
George F. Prude Councilman
Edward F. Stuart Councilman
Pat Gillespie Asst. City Secretary
with the following members absent to wit: `Councilman James E. Mager,
constituting a quorum at which the following business was transacted.
Mayor Somers stated that after investigating and discussing a group
hospitalization plan for the City employees with representatives from
Republic National Life Insurance, The Travelers Insurance Companies and
Aetna Life and Casualty, and after due consideration, the Aetna plan
was submitted to the employees for their consideration. A poll of the
employees was taken and the required participation was received in order
to acquire this plan. Mayor Somers recommended that a motion be entered
approving this group hospitalization plan and authorizing him to execute
the contract.
Councilman Woods moved this recommendation as a motion, seconded by
Councilman Stuart and carried by unanimous vote.
A letter dated July 11, 1968 from the Federal Water Pollution Control
Administration has been received stating that it was determined during
their inspection of the sewerage project WPC-Tex-464 on January 10, 1968
that the work was complete and the City could now request final payment.
Mayor Somers advised Council the Progress Report Application was in the
amount of $47,950 - $40,000 to be paid 30 days after receipt of signed
Progress Report Application and $7,950 to be paid after the final Federal
audit.
After discussion, a motion was made by Councilman Stuart to authorize

Mayor Somers to execute the Project Progress Report and Payment Request. i 7`

WARRANTS:
Motion was made by Councilman Hamil to approve Warrant No. 2274 in th& .:-# J(G
amount of $200.00 covering the Binder Fee for the group insurance plan,
and Warrant No. 3799 in the amount of $129.89 to purchase an air conditioner
for the City Laboratory. Motion was seconded by Councilman Prude, and
carried by unanimous vote.
ADJOURNMENT:
Motion to adjourn was made by Councilman Woods, seconded by Councilman
Prude and carried unanimously.
