Present were Mayor Harry D. Wagner, Harry Hatcher, Arden Hill, Alan McGinnis, and H.K. Speck. Visitors present were Lou Wortham, Bill White, Buck Hausman, Roger May and A.J. Block Jr. Minutes of the June 2, 1g64 and June 16, 196� stood approved as read. In the absence of Dale Brown, Ma.yor Wagner reported that the County is ready to put oil on all the unpaved streets. Oil was supplied to the City free of charge by Arden Hill. Arden Hill reported �hat he expected to get a copy of Pearlands Peddler Ordinance this week. The Fire Department continues to do very well: good attendence, classes are in progress; and supplles are being obtained. The Planning Cornm3.ssion has had two meetings. They have a lot to accomplish. Each of the five members accepted responsiblit�' for a phase of City planning. The City Clerk was asked to draft a letter to the Chamber of Corr�merce complimenting them on their excellent �ob with the Fourth-of-July Ba.r-B-Que. The third and final reading of Ordinance #39: Police Auxiliary: was unani.mously approved. The annexation petition for consolidation with W.C.&Z.D.#15 contains a description of land area ad�acent to 9nnalea subdivision 1 which is slighty different from that which was originally intended; a 200' instead of a 50� band. H.K. Speck moved that this petition be altered to give the land description its original intent; that it be initialed by the signing voters; that it be re-notarize�; that it then be f3.led in the City office with the proper affidavit, Motion was seconded by Arden Hill and carried. A1an McGinnis abstained from the vote. There was discussion of an ordinance requiring the fencing of swimming pool.s. The City Clerk was asked to make copies of a proposed ordinance for perusal. Alan McGinnis was asked to investigate, and make recommendations for a City Attorney. H.K. Speck suggested that an attorney have some experience. in city work and reside in Galveston County. Several names - were suggested: Ralph Bell, Coleman Carter, Green. Harry Hatcher entered a Resolution tfl accept the State� s proposed blinker light a� FM 518 and Choate Road. Alan Mc�innis seconded the resolution and it was carried unanimously. The City Council interviewed a candidate for Chief of Police at the City Hail at 7:00 P.M. July 6, zg6�. They agreed to give a decision within seven days. A�ax ordinance is to be drawn up. The City Clerk was asked to check into the plumbing �ode that could be adopted by the City. Mayor Wagner recommended that prior to an expected 5,000 population {1970) we use an ordinance coding service. This codes, c3assifies all ordinances and cheeks them out completely for legality. Harry Ha.tcher submitted a proposed expense list for antenna eables, connectors etc. to give us a communications system in time of natural disaster. This matter was held in abeyance until Harry Hatcher , Mayor �agner and Linn Eignus have a meeting to coordinate a Gity Disaster Relief System. H.K. Speck �oved that the �eeting be ad�ourned.
