, A regular meeting of the Friendswood City Council was held Feb. 1Z, 1962.
Present were: Mayor Paul O'Farrell, Councilmen: Pete Workman, Leon Brown,
Harry Hatcher and Linn Eignus, Also present were Mr. Charles Mills of Community
Public Service Co. , local law enforcement officers, Norman Chennault, _Gle,n ., _
Harkleroad and C}ieif Arden Hill.
Mr. Mills was asked to speak concerning the street lighting survey that his Co,
had recently made. He discussed several different rate schedules which the city
might wish to considero His recommendation was that the 2� per Kilowatt hr, be
approved. Other rates could be based on a flat rate of 3. 50 per light or 1 1/2�
per light and the city pay for a11 bulb replacement. It was the consensus of the
council that no action would be taken on this matter until further study can be made,
Chief-of-Police Arden Hill was asked to express l�s feelings regarding his position
as Chief-of-Police since his entering business here in town. He stated his apprecia-
tion and enjoyment in working in the position and expressed his desire to fulfill the
desire of the Council, His desire, however, was to resign the position because he
felt that he wouldn't have sufficient tixne to give to the job, and that it would be a
detriment to his business. Norman Chennault and Glen Harkleroad were asked to
express anything they might have on their minds regarding this position. Norman

offered his services and expressed his desire to serve in the capacity of Chief-of-
Police. Glen also expressed his interest in the position and his desire to work in
i law-enforcement work. It was the concensus of opinion of the council that no action
would be taken on this matter until the next regular meeting.
Mayor O'Farrell read a letter from the City Attorney regarding the ordinances per-
taining to the coming city election. Leon Brown moved that ordinances 10 and 11
pertaining to the coming city election be adopted, Motion seconded by Kenneth Camp,
motion carried.
The city secretary was�.instructed to employ someone for $1. 25 per hour to bring
the city docket and receipt book up to date.
With no further busines s th.e meeting adjourned.
