� A regular meeting of the Friendswood City Council was held Jan. 22, 1962.
� Present were: Mayor Paul O'Farrell, Councilmen: Pete Workman, Harry
Hatcher, Kenneth Camp and Linn Eignus. Also pre sent were, Chief of Police,
Arden Hill, Assistants - Norman Chennault and Bill Merchant, and City Judge,
Lawrence Cline.
Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved.
Financial report showed a balance of $8370 08, Kenneth Camp made a report
of the financial transactions for the last year ending Dec. 31, 1961.
Harry Hatcher moved that this report be accepted as read and that copies of it
be posted in the Post office and Store for public display. Motion seconded by
Pete Workman. Motion carried.
Discussion was held on the adoption of an Ordinance restricting canine animals.
It was the concensus of opinion of the Council that the enforcement of this ordinance
should be left to the county officials except in an emergency.
Local law enforcement problems were discussed. Chief Hill asked for comment
from Councilmen concerning any phase of local law enforcement. Several of the
Councilmen stated their appreciation for the work of our LOcal Officers and also
I expressed their views on the needs of our town in the way of law enforcement.
Chief Hill asked the Council's opinion of requesting the use of the water department
office for holding night court and other meetings as might be needed. It was agreed
that this request would be made.
Harry Hatcher moved that the city purchase flashlights for the City law enforcement
officers and also that the city purchase a rotating beacon for use by the local officers.
Pete Workman seconded the motion. Motion carried.
The city secretary was instructed to contact Mr, Mills of the Community Public
Service and ask him to meet with the council at it's next regular meeting on Feb.��.

With no further business the meeting adjourned.
