j A regular meeting of the Friendswood Gity Coun�il was held Jan. 8, 196Z.
' ' Present were: Leon Brown, Mayor-Pro. Tem, and Councilmen Kenneth Camp,
Pete Workman, Harry 'Hatcher and Linn Eignus. Minutes of the Iast meeting were
read and approved.
Financial report showed a balance of $795. 08.
Leon reported that the street and bridge committee was meeting with the County
Commissioners from Harris, Galveston and Brazoria Counties and the District
Engineer of the Texas Highway Dept., Mr. Carmichel on Jan. 9 at 9:30 a, m. , to
discuss the steps necessary to getting Choate road accepted by the state as a F. M.
Road.
Discussion was held on the adoption of an ordinance requiring identification tags
for and inoculation of canine animals: Prohibiting the running at large of bitches
in heat; authorizing the impounding of canine animals that are untagged or who run
at large; Providing for pound fees; Authorizing the destruction of impounded canine
animals; Prohibiting the intentional release or dumping of canine animals; and pro-
viding a penalty for the violation hereof. This shall be .recorded as Ordinance #9.
Motion made by Harry Hatcher seconded by Pete Wr�rkman that this ordinance be
adopted. Mction carried. City Secretary was inst�ructed to proceed to obtain
� identification tags and receipt books necessary to carry out the above ordinanceo
� Discussion was held on proposed dam to be constructed on Cl�ar Creek. Linn Eignus
reported that he had called City Attorney, Jack Harrison regarding this matter and that
Jack is checking on it and will find out as much as possible about the project. As
soon as he has this information available, Mr. Harrison will report back to the
Council. After considerable discussion it was decided to postpone any action on
this until more information is available.
Discussion was held concerning the possibility of having a meeting of all City law
enforcement officers, City �udge and J�tice of Peace, W. T. Furhop of League
City. Kenneth Camp moved that this meeting be set up for the next regular Council
Meeting to be held on Jan. 2Z, 1962. Motion seconded by Harry Hatcher. Motion
carried.
With no further business, the xneeting adjourned.
