FRIENDSWOOD ANIMAL CONTROL ADVISORY COMMITTEE
OCTOBER 22, 2024
THE FRIENDSWOOD ANIMAL CONTROL ADVISORY COMMITTEE MET IN A REGULAR
MEETING ON TUESDAY, OCTOBER 22, 2024, IN THE TRAINING ROOM, LOCATED IN THE
ANIMAL CONTROL BUILDING, 3000 WEST PARKWOOD DRIVE, FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS,
WITH THE FOLLOWING MEMBERS PRESENT CONSTITUTING A QUORUM:
DR. DONALD STRAN CHAIRPERSON
DR. DONNA COLEMAN VICE CHAIRPERSON
CPT. DOUG LAUERSDORF COMMITTEE MEMBER
ROBERT LEE COMMITTEE MEMBER
MARGARET PICKELL COMMITTEE MEMBER
1. CALL TO ORDER
Dr. Stran called the meeting to order with a quorum present at 6:00 P.M.; all members were present.
2. PUBLIC COMMENT
No one signed up to speak.
3. MINUTES
A. Consider approving the minutes of the Animal Shelter Advisory Committee meeting held on
October 10, 2024.
A motion was made by Committee Member Dr. Coleman and seconded by committee member Margaret
Pickell to approve the minutes of the Animal Control Advisory Committee meeting held on October 10,
2024.
The vote was the following:
Ayes: Committee Member Dr. Donna Coleman, Committee Member Dr. Donald C. Stran,
Committee Member Captain Doug Lauersdorf, and Committee Member Robert Lee
Nays: None.
The item passed unanimously.
4. REPORTS
A. Receive and discuss updates regarding proposed amendments to the Animal Shelter Advisory
Committee to include new guidelines and board member positions.
B. Receive and discuss an update regarding Animal Shelter operations.
Committee Member Lee presented a report regarding animal shelter operations and stated that Officer
Regina Guidry received new training for administrative duties that will help improve the care of the
animals at the shelter. The staff are also continuing their training with the volunteers and are brought up
to speed on all the new changes at the shelter. ACO Ashley Huynh spoke about all the volunteer events
coming up at the end of October at the shelter and the park. Officer Huynh also spoke about the non-profit
started by a volunteer and told the board about the Girls Scout group had finished building out the cat play
room.
5. NEXT MEETING.
A. Consider setting the date and time of the next Animal Shelter Advisory Committee meeting.
The Committee agreed to table another meeting until after the first of the year.
6. ADJOURNMENT
A motion was made by Dr. Coleman and seconded by Cpt. Lauersdorf to adjourn the meeting. The vote
was the following:
Ayes: Committee Member Dr. Donna Coleman, Committee Member Dr. Donald C. Stran,
Committee Member Captain Doug Lauersdorf, and Committee Member Robert Lee
Nays: None.
The item passed unanimously.
The meeting adjourned at 6:30 P.M.
