HomeMy WebLinkAboutASAC Minutes 2024 02 29 RegularMINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE FRIENDSWOOD ANIMAL CONTROL ADVISORY COMMITTEE FEBRUARY 29, 2024 THE FRIENDSWOOD ANIMAL CONTROL ADVISORY COMMITTEE MET IN A REGULAR MEETING ON THURSDAY, OCTOBER 26, 2023, IN THE TRAINING ROOM, LOCATED IN THE ANIMAL CONTROL BUILDING, 3000 WEST PARKWOOD DRIVE, FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS, WITH THE FOLLOWING MEMBERS PRESENT CONSTITUTING A QUORUM: CPT. DOUG LAUERSDORF COMMITTEE MEMBER ROBERT LEE COMMITTEE MEMBER MARGARET PICKELL COMMITTEE MEMBER DR. DONALD STRAN COMMITTEE MEMBER DR. DONNA COLEMAN COMMITTEE MEMBER 1. CALL TO ORDER Dr. Stan called the meeting to order a quorum present at 6:00 P.M.; all members were present, Committee Member Dr. Donna Coleman by phone. 2. INVOCATION None. 3. PUBLIC COMMENT No one signed up to speak. 4. REVIEW, DISCUSSION, CORRECTION AND APPROVAL OF MINUTES FROM OCTOBER 26, 2023, MEETING A motion was made by Committee Member Donald Stran and seconded by Committee Member Margaret Pickell to approve the minutes of the Animal Control Advisory Committee meeting held on October 26, 2023. The vote was the following: Ayes: Committee Member Dr. Donna Coleman, Committee Member Margaret Pickell, Committee Member Dr. Donald C. Stran, Committee Member Captain Doug Lauersdorf, and Committee Member Robert Lee Nays: None. The item passed unanimously. 5. REPORTS Animal Control Advisory Board Meeting Minutes February 29, 2024 Page 2 of 2 A. Receive and discuss the Annual Animal Control report for the City of Friendswood Animal Control Facility. Committee Member CPT. Doug Lauersdorf presented a report regarding the operations of the city Animal Control Facility and stated that staff and volunteers have worked together to help create new training techniques that will help improve animal care at the facility. Staff also continue their work on the Marketing Program with the volunteers to help continue getting the animals maximum exposure. CPT. Lauersdorf also stated that the shelter had participated in Volunteer and Shelter Events throughout the year to market the animals in the shelter through various forms of advertising. CPT. Lauersdorf stated that he commended the hard work of both staff and volunteers and further noted that the changes made to shelter operations in the last quarter are working well and have resulted in an increase in animal adoptions. 6. SETTING THE NEXT MEETING DATE AND TIME. A. Discuss and take appropriate action setting the next meeting’s date and time. The committee agreed upon May 2, 2024, for the next meeting. 7. ADJOURNMENT A motion was made by Committee Member Pickell and seconded by Dr. Coleman to adjourn the meeting at 6:25 P.M. The vote was the following: Ayes: Committee Member Dr. Donna Coleman, Committee Member Margaret Pickell, Committee Member Dr. Donald C. Stran, Committee Member Captain Doug Lauersdorf, and Committee Member Robert Lee Nays: None. The item passed unanimously. The meeting adjourned at 6:25 P.M.
