The Friendswood Scoop Shop has recently opened its doors for commercial business and sees a customer base that challenges the available parking on site. Due to the limited availability of parking on location many customers opt to park along East Castlewood Ave, this causes congestion and limits the operational capacity of the intersection traffic light. While a parking lot agreement has been made with the neighboring Chiropractic Clinic, parking and congestion continues to be an issue along East Castlewood Avenue. The City aims to paint various curbs red and install accompanying signage in order to restrict parking along Castlewood in a method less obtrusive to the flow of traffic. A graphic of the intended painting lines and locations can be found in Exhibit A below. Ordinance 300 should be amended to reflect the addition of red painted curbs and signage indicating no parking along Castlewood in order to support the police department in enforcing it.
