R2009-26 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS, DESIGNATING THE CHIEF OF POLICE AS THE CITY'S REPRESENTATIVE IN SEEKING ELIGIBLE GRANT FUNDS UNDER THE TEXAS COMPTROLLER OF PUBLIC ACCOUNTS TOBACCO COMPLIANCE GRANT IN AN AMOUNT TO BE DETERMINED; AND AUTHORIZING THE SUBMISSION OF SUCH GRANT APPLICATION TO THE TEXAS STATEWIDE TOBACCO EDUCATION AND PREVENTION (STEP). � � � � X WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Friendswood, Texas hereby finds and determines that application for funding under the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts Tobacco Compliance Grant, is in the best interests of the citizens of the City; and WHEREAS, the City agrees that in the event of loss or misuse of any State grant funds, the City will return same to the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts; and WHEREAS, the City Council hereby further finds and determines that the person serving as Chief of Police of the City is the appropriate individual to act as the City's authorized official, and as such should be given the power to apply for, accept, reject, alter or terminate the grant on behalf of the City, now therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS: Section L The facts and matters set forth in the preamble of this Resolution are hereby found to be true and correct. Section 2. The City Council of the City of Friendswood, Texas, hereby authorizes and approves the submission of a grant application, in substantially the same form as attached as Exhibit A, pursuant to the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts Tobacco Compliance Grant Program, to the Texas Statewide Tobacco Education and Prevention(STEP). Section 3. The City Council hereby designates and appoints the Chief of Police of said City as the authorized official to apply for, accept, reject, alter, or terminate the grant on behalf of the City.
