HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 77-05-B RESOLUTION NO. 7 A RESOLUTION CANVASSING THE RETURNS AND DECLARING THE RESULTS OF A BOND ELECTION HELD IN THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS, ON AUGUST 13 , 1977 . * WHEREAS, an election was held in the City of Friendswood, Texas, on August 13, 1977, at which one proposition relating to the issuance of bonds of the City and the levy of taxes to pay such bonds was sub- mitted to the duly qualified resident electors of the City for their action thereon; and WHEREAS, there were cast at said election 516 votes, of which number there were cast: PROPOSITION FOR THE ISSUANCE OF $1, 350,000 STREET IMPROVEMENT BONDS 432 votes AGAINST THE ISSUANCE OF $1,350 , 000 STREET IMPROVEMENT BONDS 84 votes MAJORITY FOR THE ISSUANCE OF $1, 350 ,000 ?' ' STREET IMPROVEMENT BONDS 432 votes; and WHEREAS, the total votes are shown in the official election returns heretofore submitted to the City Council and filed with the City Secretary; and WHEREAS, said election was called and held in all respects under and in strict conformity with the Constitution and laws of the State of Texas and of the United States; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD, STATE OF TEXAS: Section 1. The matters and facts set forth in the preamble of this resolution are hereby found to be true and correct. Section 2. The election held in the City of Friendswood, Texas, on August 13, 1977, which is more fully described in the preamble of this resolution was called and notice thereof was given in accordance with law and the election was held in all respects in conformity with law. Only qualified, resident electors of the City voted in the election; returns of the election have been lawfully made by the proper officials; the election has resulted favorably to the issuance of the bonds described in the proposition submitted at the election and to the levy and collection of the tax in payment there- of; and more than a majority of the qualified voters voting at the election have voted in favor of the proposition submitted at such election. Section 3. The City Council of the City is hereby authorized to issue the bonds described in the aforesaid proposition, to levy taxes in the payment thereof, and to do any and all things necessary or convenient in connection therewith. Section 4. It is hereby found and determined that the NOTICE OF METING, relating to the regular meeting of the City Council at which this resolution was adopted, and heretofore posted by the City Secretary, and the posting thereof, was proper and said notice and posting are hereby authorized, approved, adopted, ratified, and con- firmed.
